Right, in all honesty the appearance of VG consoles was never really of great importance to me, Function > Form. I will say, I do want to see some wicked design for Scorpio because the name sounds darn cool and hope they keep that name as well. Xbox Scorpio has a real nice ring to it. :P

Eh... I've seen worse. Any of you from the 90's remember most console designs from back then? How about the ones from the 80's or even the 70's? Some had fake wood on them. Fake wood.

For a second there I thought this was about both WTF decision of raising PS+ and making the PSFugly Slim look not appealing. Just as long they price it correctly, maybe even have some improvements like the Xbox One S and offer some features like 4K, HDR & external hard drive support for games, then it's all good. But so far I don't think there's improvements and I don't think it has external hard drive support for games. At least with Xbox, they start of with so-so looking hardware and then make them look like elegant pieces of art technology that you would love to display at your media hub, nothing like these updated PlayStations.

I think white consoles look Fisher Price AF. The whole design ethos of making these look like slick toys probably appeals a lot to a younger crowd than me. I'd feel utterly silly connecting an XBox S to my Denon receiver.

In the end, it's all a matter of taste, but to say that the XBone S is the pinnacle of console design is rather laughable. You're probably connecting it directly to your TV or some $200-$300 cheapo stereo receiver you got on holiday special at Best Buy. It looks like a children's toy in a serious media centre.

I think Sony's brilliant by releasing the ugliest Slim ever so with the NeO being more powerful it could possibly look better too so consumers flock to NeO instead with the higher price point. Ok never mind that's pretty stupid, yeah WTF is Sony thinking!?!

The overall design and look of the system is cheap, and in my opinion pretty ugly, I like the original PS4 look, the plastics also look to be of cheap composites.

It's just got one of those extremely bland and simply exists kind of looks, it's lacking identity, to me it's a worse offender than the Sega Saturn model 2.

I'll wait to see it in person. Random images of something sitting on carpet doesn't really give an accurate impression I think, haha. One thing that will probably factor into my feelings about it is the size; if it's not much smaller than a regular PS4, then I'm not entirely sure what the point is.

Nothing wrong with going green but that looks like it's made from the back side of two old recycled tires with working parts glued in the middle.

To be honest I've always preferred a minimalist design to this kind of stuff. In my opinion, anything that I put in the living room and hook up to the TV should have as little of a visual profile as possible. This kind of stuff isn't supposed to look cool, and they aren't luxury items that are supposed to catch the eyes of my guests and make them say, "wow, you have a PS4!!" I'm happiest with a low-profile black rectangle, and that looks about what they were going for.

Thankfully it looks like consoles are heading into that direction now, for the most part. It used to be standard for consoles to either have a white/grey color scheme that clashed with one's black TV, or there'd be stupid pointless curves and unnecessary flashing LED lights or some shit. Reminds me of when the PS2 first came out, and I thought it was a good looking console because in contrast to every console I'd owned before, it was basically just a black box. I could do without the unnecessary angles on the PS4, but the PS4 is basically a black box. Xbox One is basically a black box. That should be the standard for this kind of stuff. A simple black box that doesn't draw attention to yourself when you set it next to your TV.

And despite that PS4 looking "cheap", I could totally imagine setting it next to my TV and no one really noticing that it's there.
