i know the ps3 has framerate issues in some multiplat games. but which one actually came out as the better version?

i have both systems i just dont know wich one to buy it for....i MAY in the end wind up buying it for the 360 because of the achievements....just gives me that extra something to shoot for.

No ones answered you yet. I'd say get the 360 if only for the achievments. Other than that they are almost identical with differences so small they are noticable or take away from the game play, which is pure enjoyment. Go ahead an kill a whole town just for the fun of it.

Well, i only have the PS3 version, but i remember it looking better visually and having larger draw distances, shorted load times and all that jazz. But then there was an announcement (rumor?) of a patch that would bring the X360 version up to PS3 standards. Did that patch ever come out? Im not sure because people stopped talking about it when better games came out :P

Think Ps3 had slighty better graphic and faster loadtimes and abit longer drawdistance, not sure they patched that for 360 tho.

the ps 3 has better frame rate/ faster load times/ better texturing/ better draw distants/ blu-ray non-scratchable disc/ more content for free or would you rather miss the best version for achivements. plus the mpc are alot better looking the 360 versions contain fat people while the mps on the ps 3 are on a diet.

They shortened the load times in the PS3 version. I have heard that the PS3 version runs slightly better than the 360 version and it also come with the very fun Knights of the Nine guild thingy thrown in which costs an extra ten dollars on xbox 360. I would suggest the PS3 version for the better performance and the free content.

i think the issues with the draww distance in 360 were dealt with in the shivering isles pre-patch. on the ps3 apparently the landscapes / roads etc are a lot flatter with less bumps in the road (so more detail on 360). and ps3 is capped at 720p, (this according to UESP.net)sts106mat
read the reviewa again the ps 3 had more detail in everthing else. the mpc/buildings/plants/animals ect. the ps 3 version came a year later but yes they said it them selfs that the ps 3 version is better.

Yep, pretty much.

Like he said, the PS3 GOTY edition has a really nasty and annoying non-curable vampirism glitch the 360 GOTY/regular disc doesn't have, but the PS3 regular Oblivion edition does not have this vampire glitch (for whatever reason,) so keep this in mind.

that was the first game where the PS3 version looked better along with fight night. everything from the textures, frame rate, and the graphics in the distance were more detailed and cleaner.

I can't compare the PS3 and 360 versions but I have Oblivion for my PC and PS3.

The PS3 version has slightly better textures close up.

The PS3 version has slightly better lighting.

The PS3 version does not have any anti-aliasing and as a result, trees and plants look ugly from a distance.

The PC has better draw distance. Things pup into view much more often on the PS3 version.

The PS3 version does seem to have a framerate problem. It looks like it runs around 20 FPS most of the time.

The game is great no matter which version you get.

it is upscale to 1080p or i but the native 720p looks better than upscale 1080p anyways. so please think before you buy. i think your better off buying the first oblivion for the ps 3 because it comes with knights of the nine plus it is only 30 bucks now. pllus 300 hours of game time you can put into it = a great price for 30 dollars.

Speaking of glitches. Have you 360 owners with the GOTY edition had a glitch where the game locks up on the quest where you go on the ghost ship? I'm not too sure what the actual name is of the ship/quest is off the top of my head and I'm new to the game. I just bought it a few weeks ago, but it locks up every time around the 3rd level of the ship. If I reload from my save and avoid it I'm fine, but if I don't I get this lock up. BTW I have not installed any patches.

I honestly have no clue. I only played it after they patched it, and the graphics seemed decent.

It makes me mad that for the GotY Edition that they didn't included all of the DLC content up until that point. I mean come on, it's been out for a while, at least give people more of an incentive to by the GotY edition.

I would rebuy Oblivion for the PS3 and get the GotY edition if it had all of the DLC (since someone stole my 360 version), and I bought a lot of DLC for the 360 and I don't want to rebuy it all for the PS3. :( Now that I think about it... does the PS Store even have Oblivion content up? :?

The 360 runs at like 540p and then upscales. The load times were a pain in the ass. Popped up like every 75ft and paused the game for a second. Maybe the patch fixed it? I dunno, I've never played it post patch.

The ps3 version hardly ever has to load, and when it does the game doesn't actually pause, it keeps moving the the "now loading" at the bottom. It runs at an actual 720p, not upscaled. It looks pretty good, about the same as if you ran the game on a 7900gtx (who'da thunk, huh) on computer.

*Edit. I thought the GOTY edition for ps3 included all the DLC crap the 360 got? Its certainly not on the PSN store unless you count the Shivering Isles expansion that you wouldn't need.

Xbox 360 version has better "feel" to the controls and it has achievements. Remember, buy the game of the year addition so you get all the expansions (Knights of the Nine, Shivering Isles).

I play it with an 8800gt, I have it cranked up as high as it will go and play on my 42" HDTV at 1920x1080. The overall look of the PC version is much more realistic than the PS3 version. Me and my best friend did a comparison by viewing both on my TV at the same time. When you break it down, in these ways the PS3 looks better, but overall the PC version wins due to the much deeper draw and AA/AF flitering.

Does anybody have a link for this supposed patch that made the 360 version look as good as the PS3 version? I have searched for it everywhere and have found nothing. I have a sneaking suspicion that this patch was merely damage control by some lemmings after it came out that the PS3 version looked better.

It's strange what mods can do.
