I just recently bought Conviction due to it being rather cheap, and I gotta say, I'm having a blast with the game. I remember when the game first released, a lot of people were bashing it to death. It's a solid title, that has amazing co-op, so I'm not sure what was wrong with it...

The problem is Ubisoft turned awesome stealth games into a mindless TPS'er known as Splinter Cell: Conviction
Not sure what was so, "mindless" about it. If you get shot a few times, you die outright. Executions help streamline the gameplay, but it's not like you HAVE to use it...I'm pretty sure you can get through most of the game just sneaking though (I could be wrong, though).
Much of the game, yes, but not all. But that's ok, because when the tactics switch to all action, it makes sense in the story.
Regardless, one of the main complaints about the SC series in general was that his hand to hand skills were garbage and that he didn't have a big enough repetoir of offensive moves in case stealth failed. On top of that, people always complained about the trial and error gameplay.
Conviction directly addresses those. In my eyes, it was probably the best thing they could have done.
