Just want to see how many of us here have been gaming since the beginning.

My self have been gaming since the Intellivision. How about you? Huh? How about you? Didn't put it as a poll answer but the commodore 64 is an option. (put under other:)

For those who don't remember the Intellivision:

My older sisters had the Genesis and NES from before I was born but the first one I actually got was the PS1.

Or it could have been a model 1 Genesis an old neighbor left on our doorstep when they were moving out.

My first was also the Intellivision. But I never own many games on it. Got into gaming more on my dad's Tandy color computer 1 and Zaxxon rules. Come on Sega make a new one.

I was saying the same thing but now I am happy to see Nintendo and Sega working on games together....How else would we see Sonic in SSBB? Or Mario vs Sonic games but I just hope the next one is a platformer

When I was that young I had an Atari 2600 to play, however, I don't look back on it with fond memroies at all (there isn't a game I would ever care to replay even for nostalgic purposes).

The NES was what I would really call my first system, one that I gave a damn about, and one that I still consider a great time in my life growing up.

Bought it at a gaming collectors convention in Valley Forge PA, years ago. Guy only wanted $50, no box but it works perfectly. I don't even have any games for it, lol.

I actually feel the same way, but still its was my first system. The only game I can remember playing a lot is Ghostbusters lol. Don't even ask what kind of gameplay it had.

Hell, looking at it now, I don't think I liked that many NES games.

My first console was the NES. I first started playing on a friend's Atari 2600, though. It was just that I couldn't convince my parents to get me one of those newfangled veedeeogeim boxes that got plugged into the tube until after the NES had been out for a couple years.

I played them and even tried to replay many of those to see if I could "rekindle" anything. Alas I can't. When I play them I have no feeling of fond memories, nor do I think they're much fun (much like I did when I was a lot younger).

I can and do still sometimes play and whole heartedly enjoy many NES games on the other hand. Not one of those games you listed holds a candle to memories I've had with LoZ, Metroid, SMB, SMB3, Star Tropics, FF, DQ, Castlevania etc. These games among many others are what I look back on and realize why I'm still in this hobby... not the Atari 2600 and it's mediocrity of a library in my humble opinion.

With the Atari 2600 those games where pretty much the it of gaming, or at least what I was aware of at the time. When the NES came out, there was a whole more of gaming variety compared to the Atari 2600 days. With the Arcades blooming and Master System launching a year after it, there was just more stuff to play. For me, save a couple of games, the NES never rated up to the Arcade gaming of the period, and it was pretty much a forgettable console in my memoires.
