pokemon blue/red after that they added too many pokemon, and didn't change the gameplay at all. I got diamond for ds and didn't know what the hell i was catching, i played leaf green (a blue remake for gba) and enjoyed it much more.

I prefer the genre "before Pokemon ever existed", I refer to them as the "good ole days"

The second generation.Every Pokemon game that came after that didn't hold a candle to the second generation.

My girl has all kind of Pokemon games, but I didn't really get into playing one of the games until I got my DS. I own pearl and like it.

Gold/Silver >>> God.

Seriously, Red and Blue were good, but Gold and Silver added a bunch of stuff, and added 150 more Pokemon that were cool and useful. The series has been going downhill since.

Gold and Silver are some of the greatest RPG's EVER.

Red/Blue/Yellow is tied for me with Gold/Silver/ Crystal

I did have all 151 in Red and those were the best times ever. All the pokemon are classic there not a single stupid one.

Gold however expanded so much yet still retained the meories of Red. A couple stupid pokemon but they were overshadowed by pure awesomeness. The new ones with like 9001 pokemon are just stupid and kids these days (never thought I'd be using that line at 16) are missing out.

First generation obviously. It was a brand new experience back then, and all of the pokemon were both very creative and original. The gold and silver games were great too, as they made the regions bigger and added the element of time. The pokemon themselves were't quite as good, but for a sequel it definitely delivered. Everything after those games has been subpar though.

I'd say the 2nd generation just out of nostalgia, but the 3rd generation really made the most improvements overall, and DPP adding online definitely changed things up a lot.

My favourite Pokemon generation was Red/Blue/Yellow...What!? Yes, I'm quite aware that Gold/Silver/Crystal was better in every single way. It even included the Kanto region from RBY. However, unlike GSC, I raised a Magikarp from Lv. 15 to a Lv. 100 Gyarados. That pathetic excuse for a Pokemon evolving into a Hyper Beam-ing machine was one of my happiest moments in gaming.Sure, you could do the same in GSC or any other generation, GSC had a red Gyarados which was awesome in it's own right, but the fact remains that RBY did it first for me.

Ruby/Sapphire. Had good greaphics and great gameplay and memorable towns/locations. Had memorable and enjoyable characters and i think it had better pokemon. The earlier ones were really good too, but not as good as Ruby. Diamond was just boring and not memorable at all..i actually can't even remember any of the towns or locations or new pokemon, yet i can remember almost everything from Ruby.

Gold, Silver and Crystal was the best generation for me. The appeal of the gameplay, along with the originality and creativity of the pokemon, were still intact. It had all the great aspects of the first generation of pokemon GB games, but all improved and refined in every way. Also, Tyranitar was a badass.

Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald's pokemon designs were stale and the games did very little new in comparison to the jump from Red/Blue/Yellow to Gold/Silver/Crystal.

I enjoyed pokemon Diamond, since online trading and dueling was quite interesting and fresh (although online dueling required those God damn friend codes); however, there were too little new pokemon (not a full 100) and flippin' 13-14 of them were legendaries, which I couldn't give a crap about.

Red/Blue/Yellow(even though yellow was some ****)

Only game from the later gens that even comes close is crystal. After that it all went down hill. You could say all the gameboy/gameboy color games were the best in the franchise.

First; the formula was refreshing back then. A dozen games later, and it loses some of the charm.

Plus, the Pokemon designs they're resorting to now are just ridiculous. The first generation was the most diverse and more realistic (while still not realistic) than 2, 3 and 4.

you probably wouldn't be saying that if they were introduced during the 3rd or 4th gen
