[QUOTE="flood"] the honest truth is the wii is going down the same path as the N64 and the gamecube......sad but true

Ugh, the Wii is targetted at both casual and Nintendo-enthusiasts, where-as the N64/GC were aimed solely at the Nintendo-enthusiasts, so please explain your logic here?
The only thing sad here is you, and that's the only truth in this idiotic crystal-ball-seeing thread.
well first off.....the personal attacks arent warranted. calling me sad and idiotic doesnt add to the depth of the discussion.
secondly, let me explain my logic and my concerns.
i know alot of people that are of the non gamer persuasion that bought a Wii. now when i say non gamers...i mean they have either not played games in a decade, or they have never ever played games period. i know for a fact that after they have played wii sports for a week they have not touched their system since. its to be expected.....they are not big time gamers
so far the wii has had a few strong first party showings (zelda, paper mario) but wii owners have had to settle for alot of ports of ps2 gamecube and xbox titles so far. these are not the titles they were promised when they bought the system...they want more wii sports, wii controlled party games.....my aunt has no use for godafther black hand, or call of duty or scarface.....
also.....because alot of wii owners are comprised of moms, grandmas and non gamers who bought the system to play wii sports. does this hurt the wii later on when those people may bore of the wii and move onto other hobbies.
we could always assume that once they play the wii they are hooked for life, or we could also assume that they played the wii had their momentary fun and will move onto other things.
i personally feel that one of the problems of selling a system to non gamer audiences is that you are marketing to a crowd who doesnt buy games in the volume that hardcore/enthusiast gamers do. im not saying that wii is for non gamers only....but you have to be fair....alot of people have given kudos to nintendo for going after non gamers with the Wii as a strategy......and i believe its a strategy that may bite them later on.
if you look at nintendo history, my concerns are not without merit. the last two systems(n64,GC) have floundered when it came to third party support and turned into an arrid wasteland of first party titles every six months.
im just wondering if were seeing another example of nintendo going great out the gate, but losing steam in year two or three.
