What would it take to make you buy a PS3?

I've been pondering not why I haven't bought a PS3, but why I haven't even been thinking about buying one.

For me, its simple. I own a 360 and a Wii. The 360 takes up the vast majority of my gaming time (99%), and I've basically been burned by the Wii (novelty has worn off and low-res graphics don't make it any easier to like).

So what would make me want to buy a PS3? Sadly, it would be the ability to play HD movies on my 106" screen. But there are two strikes against even that: #1, I could get an HD-DVD drive for less than 1/3 the cost of aPS3 and #2, I can already rent the HD movies I want off XBL Video Marketplace.

Right now for me to even contemplate buying a PS3, Sony would have to make it available for $200 or less, AND they'd need some killer apps to go along with that. Right now they don't have either.

What about those of you who don't yet own a PS3? What would it take for Sony to get you to buy one?

Sorry, I'd never buy a console based on what games MIGHT be AAA down the road. That's not a good bet.

MGS and FF are my favourite franchises, i bought the system mainly for them. So in cases like mine you should buy a system for its upcoming games

It needs better games in my opinion, and the price tag is heavy for me

Unless Microsoft suddenly pulls the plug on the 360, I will never get one. I only have time enough in the day to play for an hour or so. It is not worth it to me to buy multiple systems when I don't have enough time to play all the good games on the 360 as it is. I will have a Wii this Christmas for my kids (Santa has it stashed in my closet) but that is for them, really. I may play Zelda or something just to see what it is about.

I think a lot of people are like me. They don't have the time to make it worth while to invest in both the 360 and PS3. Sure, money has a lot to do with it for many. But even for people like me who can afford both, I just don't have the time to play games on both so why bother spending a bunch of money for something I don't need?

Good question, TC. I could buy a ps3 or a 360 this weekend if I wanted to but I'm sure I won't. There is still nothing to compel me to move on from the ps2. The PS3 is missing the community and AAA games (not just in the System Wars sense) and the 360 is missing the japanese flavored games and franchises.

The real reason I haven't gotten either is that I don't have an HD TV yet. It seems that these systems remain unimpressive without that one componant.

No BS backwards compatability with the option of upping the graphics on them somewhat (much like the smoothing out of PSone games on the PS2).

I wouldnt buy a PS3 if you TC gave me the money for it. The games I am interested in are either on PC/360 and the controller doesnt have rumble.. :shock:

It would take the demise of DVD for me to buy a Playstation 3.

Sony also need to change their attitude. I genuinely loath their arrogance.
