Nintendo quit.
I would quit gaming if it happened

Love your sigs.I'd lock myself up in a small room with electricity and play SNES games for the rest of my days. All the while rocking to and from while mumbling incoherently.

OK, so the highly improbable outcome of this actually happening aside, IF by some fluke that it did happen...
WHY attach just one brand as being the be-all end-all of gaming? How about trying out the offerings of other platforms? You just might be pleasently surprised. If you feel that without 1 particular entity, there is no reason to game and just leave along with them, you probably shouldn't have gotten into the hobby in the first place.
Gaming didn't end when Atari left the scene. It didn't end when Sega exited the hardware race. It wouldn't come to and end if (again highly improbable) Nintendo did, and neither should your involvement, if you're truly passionate about gaming.

If Nintendo quit then there will be no more videogames because no ideas. :(I'd miss Zelda, but perhaps a quick death is what the franchise deserves instead of a drawn out death by motion controls & whatever new gimmicks Nintendo comes up with.

Did Nintendo come up with the idea of open world sandbox gaming? Did Nintendo first push the envelope of games as immersive cinematic experiences? Did Nintendo come up with the idea of role playing defined by player driven choice? Did Nintendo introduce the sim experience to racing games? Did Nintendo innovate and evolve online multiplayer?
Yes, they did bring many ideas to the table, but please don't even suggest the idea that they're the only idea factory in the industry :|
Wait for the board of directors to fire the "in that case" obviously manic Satoru Iwata and replace him with a new CEO.
Unless I owned Nintendo stock, in which case I would be contacting board members and telling them to fire the "in that case" obviously manic Satoru Iwata.
I'll play some Nintendo Games.
In memory of the Gaming Company.
Although it's kinda very unlikely this will happen.

Didn't they invent touchscreen though? The actual technology behind touch screens? No. That's been around for years before, in tablets and other computer interfaces. Nintendo only first incoprorated it into the video game market, which did bring about a new way to interface with games.Which is still just ONE idea.
And I was pointing out several ideas in game design (not merely the tech we play them on) that were innovated by several different developers, like Rockstar who gave birth to the sandbox genre, a totally new way we played our games as non-linear. So just how does your touch screen example support your original position that the entire industry relies solely on Nintendo to provide ideas for gaming?
I still like some of their franchises.
Smash Bros, Metroid, F-Zero and I do like to play some fames with my younger cousins and family.
I really believe Nintendo and what it provides to the video games industry is still quite important and that is their focus on family friendly games and differentiation from the rest of the games that focus on the "hardcore" community.
The only way Video Games will grow and remain a viable entertainment is that it continues to innovate, diversify and retain it's pure appeal of fun.
Hell if Nintendo never existed, I'd probably be better off in life in general.wow you people are heartless. There probably wouldn't be other platforms to play on (except pc) if it wasn't for Nintendo.

You could easily say Nintendo wouldn't exist if not for Atari. Yet the industry can survive just fine without them too. And I'm by no means belittling the enormous contributions Nintendo made, especially the fact that they ressurrected the gaming industry after the big crash. But it's not like the industry depends on them, any more than it would Sony, Sega, Microsoft, or any other gaming brand.
