What's currently the released GOTY in your opinion?

It's actually a space trading and combat simulator.

You start with your own space-ship and you're set free in this MASSIVE GALAXY where you can do whatever you want.

There's a plot if you like that sort of thing, but it's mostly about exploring, building up your own trade empire from scratch, and going on recon/search and destroy/escort missions for corporations and governments.

You haven't heard of it because it's made by a niche German company, but I assure you, the game has incredible graphics, gameplay, and depth that surpasses Skyrim in terms of content and complexity.

But peter... it's not at the forefront of the media. Everyone knows GOTY rarely goes to the best game, just the most popular.

Gears 3 is going to get GOTY. If you say its not then you haven't played it. I have been playing co op and I'm currently on Act 4 Chapter 1 and I'm blown away by the story, level design, fluid gameplay and polish. Deus Ex: Human Revolution was also an amazing game but it just wasn't polished at all.Biohazard93

Sounds awesome! Dude I'm not kidding or anything either, I have always wanted an open world space game, and this sounds bad***. I would totally buy it if it turns out to be good, but I don't play on PC much because I like consoles more. In particular the PS3 (obviously lol) but if they were to bring it to consoles it would increase their fanbase and more people would buy it. See that's what's wrong with the PC community, there games don't sell very well and don't get much attention because PC is more expensive (in the short term and depending on how much you want to spend). Not saying PC gaming is bad or anything, but it has it's drawbacks....

If you want your game to get attention you bring it to consoles.

Also you said it was made by a German comany, and with me being Jewish I don't know.... I hear there is still alot of anti semities in Germany and Europe as a whole.

Resistance 3 would be if Insomniac would hurry up and fix the damn multiplayer. Crysis 2 still is currently. Dead Island just might pass it though. I'm having a s*** ton of fun playing it.

Considering I only played two games released this year so far I will have to say Pokemon Black and White.

It was that or Little Big Planet 2.

Portal 2 isn't just GOTY but also GOAT

Catherine so far, got 120 hours logged in it

I've only played four games from this year, and one is a re-release.

Gears 3 is the best of them so far, but the bar's pretty low, so that's not saying much.

Witcher 2 or Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Tough choice so far.

I'll say TW2, but I haven't played Deux Ex : HR yet.

Yep, so far Gears of war 3 is obviously the most deserving. The amount of polish is more then I've ever seen in a game thusfar.

Had it not been absolutely perfect it would've been trashed to the ground much like Resistance 3. Even though R3 was actually generally good.

Gears or war3. it totally lived up to my hype

From what i've played this year its TW2

so far this year i still didn't play a game that comes near infamous 2

Gamespot GOTY so far: Portal 2 or Gears of War 3

Personal GOTY so far: Infamous 2 or Portal 2

Deus Ex, but with Dark Souls coming out that'll change in about two weeks...

Portal 2 is the best I have played.

So far it´s between The Witcher 2,Deus Ex HR and Shogun 2. Also really enjoyed Yakuza 4.

But probably TW2,amazing game.

Of what I've played from this year, Portal 2, TW2, and DE:HR all deserve consideration. I'll put off making my choice til after the Fall onslaught has arrived :)

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is my game of the year, possibly even my game of the generation.

The first game never caused the revolution it deserved to; maybe the outstanding success of DX3 will achieve that...

I thought inFamous 2 would follow more closely, but it didn't. Deus Ex was realy that good!

Gears of War 3. I just sat and played the campaign for a good 8 hours solid and completed it. Fantastic game. Will get my bloody in the multiplayer sometime tomorrow.

I'd have to say Gears of War 3. I'm nearly done with the campaign and I already know it's my GOTY. This, against The Witcher 2, Portal 2, Deus Ex Human Revolution, and Shogun 2.

The games I believe may stand a chance to dethrone it are Uncharted 3, Skyrim, BF3, or Diablo 3 (if it comes out this year). Somehow I doubt it though.
