If sony got a time machine, they could go back in time and kill all members of MS and Nintendo so that the Wii and 360 were never created. Short of that, they have no chance.
The price is the only thing hurting them. They need to lower it.

At this point the price argument is irrelevant.. Even if Sony dropped the price of the PS3, M$ and Nintendo would simply follow suit (well not so much Nintendo :P). And then we'd be right back were we started from. At this point it's almost impossible for Sony to get the number 1 spot. The Wii has taken the videogame market to another level. And M$ has simply taken too much market share.. (and 3rd party games.. ) Square's putting the next main FF game on the 360 for crap sake.. I can't see the PS3 doing anything but finishing maybe a few million ahead of the 360 and that's only IF M$ kills the 360 in the next year or two..

Sony has already missed the boat this generation in terms of being number one at retail. It's all but impossible for them to make such a turnaround this late in the game barring something ridiculous like giving the consoles away.
A fairytale book character is of no use to Sony. Even if God was more than Peter Pan, he may be able to create a world in six days on rest on Sunday....but to dig Sony out of it's hole into a position to beat Nintendo would be too far a stretch even for a God. All Sony can hope is to come in a close second by price lowering, advertising WAY better than it is, and games like GOW3, GT5 and such that will attract fans of these series that aren't owners yet, and games like Unchartered 2, inFamous 2, and others being so outstanding that they will grow the install base. Then Sony has to come up with a better strategy next gen...I would suggest they get Crazy Ken back to design PS4, and not sack him a few months after launch this time, as it sends a pretty strong message to consumers that Sony have no faith in their hardwares designer, and they don't back him (no matter what outlandish things the media overplay and misconstrew into negative propaganda for cannon fodder for the fanboys). Did we see Myamoto get axed for N64 and GC....Nope....Ok, bad example, but I'm pretty sure Nintendo and MS would not sack their designers for designing two consoles that hold record sales for two gens straight, just because he talked up silly hype about his new machine and tried to oversell it. I mean, it seems like they got rid of him for the aforementioned reasons of silly comments, lack of faith in his design abilities, and because the machine failed to sell 120million in it's 1st year.
A miracle, the households who designed their budgets for one console only, ended up buying either a wii or a 360 in 2006, simply because the price was too high, it's close to irrelevant what sony does now, not even if they got Duke Nukem forever Ps3 exclusive and released it tomorrow. Nintendo has eaten all the lemmings with their pockets full of money
The only thing that would give it a chance imo is 1. PS3 slim to be 200$ or less, and 2. Way way WAY better advertisement. Bringing down the price of PS3 that low would lose Sony more money than if they didn't though, so it's not going to happen regardless if it would bring them to 1st place.
