Whats Keeping MS From Revealing Xbox1's Release Date?

With November only a couple of months away, why still delay the announcement? Will it really affect anything at this point if they release before or after PS4?

Judging by the X1's World Wide delays (phased launches), I would guess MS management is trying to figure out a date that is:

1) earlier than SONY's Nov 15th in North America

2) Not too much later than SONY's Nov 29th in Europe (hence FIFA bundling)

that will allow MS to produce enough consoles without pissing off more customers due to global shortages, further due to late production.

The X1 launch has been nothing short of a disaster for MS - they were not ready and I'm sure being utlra cautious b/c of the 360's RROD issues.

It amazes me cows don't realise the Xbox 360 release date wasn't announced until early\mid september.

Because they probably don't have a release date set yet? 

I blame Sony since Microsoft are unsure when the time will be right to release it around the same time as the PS4.

This has precedence and it may not be the best news. It's known that 360 started mass production only 69 days before launch which puts that around September 13, 2005. The release dates were announced during TGS '05  on September 14, 2005. Perhaps Microsoft has not started full production but if that is the case we may be looking at a late launch as 360 was launcehed on Novemember 22, 2005. We know how well the late production worked out (RROD) Hopefully MS has begun production and I believe they have. Albert Penello of MS claims there are no production issues on Neogaf and swears that if there were he would just keep quiet instead of refuting them. He promises that when sales numbers come out it will shut up the rumors that manufacturing issues were to blame in region delays. 

TL;DR: MSFT will announce it "when they are ready" and it doesn't mean anything is wrong. I'm guessing TGS despite MSFT's horrible presence in Japan.

I think they're having production or manufacturing issues, not looking good for Xbone

They're having manufacturing shortages... yet they're offering FREE consoles to all their own Employees AND Gamestop Store Managers. AND they don't have enough units for 8 territories, so that they have to bundle a FIFA game in with them to make them feel better about not getting a unit until 2014.

And here we are - STILL with no release date.

Anyways, they are keeping it quiet now because they are trying to see if they have enough resources for an extremely early release date (to undercut sony for a head start).. I'm probably assmuming Mid October-Nov 1.

That is why Microsoft is so hush hush about it.

Before the PS4 in US seems very unlikely (and CBOAT said that reps are being called for Nov 15, so late Nov is most likely)

TGS seems like a very bad place to announce it, since nobody cares for MS there, they will most likely do another small event or just tell it to the media... or tweet it...

We received our first 'bone in the office last week so it cant be that far from release, personally i think they're runnin scared of sony LOLOL.

i think microsoft have just crumbled with all the 180s and uncertainty around the xbox one, they've never really been to sure on what the xbox one is, or what seemed very confident. 

Hopefully they are testing properly the hardware so they dont release on the market a console with such a high failure rate like the 360 !!!

An additional 2304 to 2560 stream processors? LMMAO. Somebody else drinking the misterxmedia kool-aid. :D

Hey, I'd be more than happy with an additional 400-600 gflops. At least that would put it at parity with PS4. But chances against it getting even that are like 99.99% and what was in that link has 0% chance.

They are probably having software issues with having to remove 1) the DRM programs 2) 24 hour connect programs 3)Kinnect Mandatory programs. They may sound like simple things, but being a software developer I know that some times the thing that sounds easiest to change can post the most challenge.
