What's so bad about Fallout 4's graphics?

Looks okay to me. Not bad, not great, but completely serviceable. Then again I could play games on Low and still find them to be decent looking so I guess I tend to just not care lol.

Fallout 4 is barely acceptable considering the (graphical) quality of all of the open world games we've had this gen.

For the resources available to Bethesda, its unacceptable that their game looks far worse than a much smaller company's offering. The Witcher 3 > Fallout 4 by an entire generation.

Not only that, their writing and animation are just as atrocious.

Their game is good but much more should be expected from them and that we have gamers apologising for them cutting corners are not doing any gamers any good.

Looks okay to me, not everything has to be cutting edge visual. :P

The game looks good on PC, and I'm only playing at 1050p, low/medium settings, little AA, 60 frames a second.

Ultimately, it's a good thing Fallout 4 has colour saturation and vibrance.

The loading times between entering small as hell buildings can even get a bit annoying, whatever happened to the promise of no loading screens Todd?

In a few weeks time I will be playing Fallout 4 and I don't care if it looks like crap on consoles as long as the gameplay is good.

You just dont get it do you, we don't play Bethesda games for their amazing graphics because we are not immature graphic whore children.

Wow, it's been years since I posted on a Gamespot forum.

FO4, great game, tons to do, graphics aren't great but they aren't bad either. I have seen far worse. Since when did graphics make a game worth playing? Witcher 3 on the other hand, excellent graphics, story. Combat could have been better. Both excellent games.

That can't be console graphics! I am on pc and have been for the past 2 years. Those images look like last gen graphics. I expected both systems to be far better than that!

It is disappointing that the graphics aren't better..especially for this generation. The game is unbelievably fun with lots of interesting things to do...but them graphics ..Bethesda coming with the N64 quality

at their best the graphics (ps4) are passable with some nice lighting effects and interesting scenery, at worst they're... just plain wretched. the top down view when you go up in the verti bird in particular is hilarious. what with the blurry textures, flickery pop-in and complete absence of landscape detail it looks a decade old

@leandrrothe game streams textures in on the fly. I think the console versions look like ass, but at least be honest in your post, that texture is mid-stream

playing on PC, no complaints, except as others have said facial animations. The visuals are not cutting edge, but they look pretty good.

This game is incredible; the world is so alive, I love coming across random fights.

Like this one time, i was leaving the Atom Cat's hideout (they're power armor nuts) and Brotherhood of Steel was attacking a mutant stronghold. Their helicopter thing got shot down, big explosion with parts flying all over (my god, the explosions in this game are incredible), then BoS in power armor shooting lasers and miniguns, with mutants shooting back. It's like a light show. Then another helicopter shows up, miniguns glowing with heat.

About 5 minutes ago I encountered my first radiation storm, that was pretty impressive too.

Wish I recorded it...

Playing on the PC so maybe that's why, but the game looks pretty damn good in my opinion. It's no graphics king but it's completely serviceable and there's even some areas where it looks great.

It can look truly great at times on PC.

I hope the modding community creates some magic soon but I think it will be several months, at least, before, it gets close to acceptable. As far as graphics are concerned what's needed are high res textures and massive improvements to character models. (it needs far more but those two would be a good start).

I am quite content with the look of the game, besides graphics aren't everything anyway.

The character 3D models aren't pretty good, and the animations are stiff/robotic, but aside from that everything else looks great, the illumination is particulary good.
