VALVe + FPS + Zombies
If you don't understand the awesomeness of that combination you won't understand why Left 4 Dead is awesome.

Combination still = graphics that look like ****
Why buy it over far cry 2? At least when I see Resistance 2 it looks like a decent to good fps game and at least it offers something some what unique with a 60 man online play. With Left 4 dead I don't see anything and the graphics look terrible.
Like I said why not buy a better fps game come this fall or if your looking for survival horror wait for the sure thing with RE5 which I think comes out spring but not sure.

So that's why you're really crying over it. Your console gets no Valve love. There there, I'm sure EA will give you a shoddy port sometime.

I never said I wanted the game because I don't. I don't give a **** about Valve or any other developer. I'm fair weather fan that calls the shots as I see them. If I think a game looks like **** compared to the competition I'm not afraid to say so and thats the case with this game. I don't think left 4 dead will turn out to be half the game that Far Cry 2 is. And if this so great developer called "Valve" is so great then why don't the graphics look as good as Far Cry 2 or even close to it?

4 player co-op. Fast, powerful zombies. Massive maps that are different every time you play through them.
What's not to like? :D

I played half life 2 over at a friends house for a couple of hours. It has some cool things in the game that you can do look moving objects like something out of star wars referred to as the force. The graphics in half life 2 were good and it was an alright game based off of what I played of it.
Systems I own include ps3 and pc.
Is this a thread properly outlining criticisms, because all I've seen is him saying it doesn't look as good graphically as Far Cry 2.
The main quality of Left 4 Dead is the AI director. It adds an intensity to the game while taking away the repetition and predictability. You never know where the zombies are coming from or how many will spawn. The game monitors your performance and tailors the experience based on that. Couple that with how reliant it is on co-op (Valve developers have died in demonstrations because one squad member messed around) and you have a damn promising game. If your only concern is that it doesn't look as good graphically as Far Cry 2, then I don't really know what to say to you.

Well I think you should get The Orange Box and sit down with Half Life 2 for a while. It's not one of those games were playing it at your friends house is enough to judge it by.
So this is basically about graphics and not gameplay? Since you keep mentioning graphics as the reason to buy FC2.Burnsmiesta
There is more to far cry 2 than just graphics if you have seen some of the videos of it and have found info on the game. There is supposviely 50 hours or so gameplay through the single player. There is an awsome map editor based off of what I've seen that allows creation of good size maps for multiplayer. The game does a good job of when you shoot someone in the leg they are going to drop to the ground and lay there and call for help. Also, when you put things on fire the fire spreads pretty well based off of what I've seen. This game should be goty pretty easily but it does have competition with Little big planet and maybe another game or two.

1) The Graphics are fine for a Source Engine game, the atmosphere, animations and characters are great.
2) Far Cry 2? Resistance? Wtf? Yes they will be good, BUT THIS IS A MULITPLAYER FOCUSED game!.
3) RE5? why would I want a single player action-arcadey game that when the zombie get close they slow down so you can shoot them effortlessly, when I could be playing a 4 player game with 100s of zomebies that DO NOT SLOW DOWN trying to tear my face off.
RE5 is barely survival.

Left 4 Dead are Far Cry 2 are totally different games. L4D is definitely something different in regards to multiplayer FPS because it's co-op only. AND, on top of that, the game features a "director AI" which decided how and where and when to spawn zombies based on your performance. That alone is worth a purchase.

I was never crazy about what the orange box had inside the box to begin with. Maybe if orange box came out when ps3 was first released then yeah I would probably would of picked it up but this came out around the time of COD4 and I'm sure I wouldn't like it as much as COD4. And another is if I didn't have any fps games for ps3 I wouldn't bother to pick up COD4 now not when Far Cry 2 is getting ready to come in a month in a half from now with that map editor. The map editor increases the value by like 10 fold. It takes a long time for me to get tired of map editors if I ever do because I like coming across the new levels that people create and I don't like to pay for extra content when I can make it myself.

First off, don't ever base a game off of graphics. There are plenty of great graphic games that are horrible and plenty of horrible graphic games that are great. So to dismiss it and call it a flop due to poor graphics is pointless.
Second, I can somewhat understand you're point with "what makes this game different and unique" as there was once a point in time where I thought this. But so far, every hands on preview of the game I've read talks about the excellent teamwork used in the game that makes it stand out. I suppose it's one of those "experience it for yourself" games that you have to play to understand.
Lastly, this is freakin Valve. If anyone knows how to do a FPS the right way, it's them. They've put out great game after great game time and time again and time has not changed that.

first of all...you might want to research the game first...since its clear you know nothing about.
second, Valve never charges for DLC (at least on the PC)
and third...Left 4 dead on the PC will have a map editor far more powerfull than the one in Farcry 2.

So it brings something to the table along the lines of AI. Thats all you really had to say was that the came doesn't have the best graphics but it does have great AI. Although I wonder how good the AI really is and how many paths can you really take going through each level. I've seen games that try to accomplish things like this that just fall short of what people really expected.

Dynasty Warriors had different scenarios on the same map triggered pending on what you did as scripts.
Left4Dead isnt scripted, everything is randomly generated on a level, so its never the same.
What makes Resistance great? 60 players isnt new.... its just a sequal to a medoicre shooter thats PS3 exclusive, Far Cry 2 isnt unique, STALKER already did most of its features bar the onnoying "heal yourself" which ultimatly with be a boring repetitive gimmick.

Everything is randomly generated on a level? You go into a big building all kinds of zombies starting pouring out. You play the level again the zombies are still gonna show up in that building. It won't be like that for every building but there are certain points in the game where the zombies are gonna show up every time you play.

no their arent....all the zombie actions are procedurally generated...meaning that you will never go through the same level the same way twice....
and the PC version ships with a super powerfull map editor that lets you design your own levels from scrath.

5 games.....I think it comes with Half life, Half Life 2, Protal, Team Fortress 2, I guess something else. Anyway Half Life is too old...I wouldn't pay even $15 for it when orange box came out. I felt that Half life 2 was really old when it was released on the consoles and games that are even a year old usually go for $30...this game was like over 2 years old. Portal is cool and I would like to try it out but I don't think I would play it for any more than a couple of hours. Team fortress 2 seemed like the best game of the bunch but not as good as COD4.
it is being made by the most overrated dev ever (though I must say I dont know how those crappy devs managed to make TF2, the best mp game ever). I also dont see whats so good about Left 4 Deadmingo123
Because they aren't crappy devs.:)
Link to Left 4 Dead Hype Thread
Also Left 4 Dead has like no hype, at least on SW. Left 4 Dead is going to be the funnest multiplayer game this year, and doubters will miss out.
EDIT: Did you just say Valve is a crappy dev? If so, you don't deserve to play TF2 or Left 4 Dead.
[QUOTE="Burnsmiesta"][QUOTE="odin2019"]Maybe but that depends on whos point of view. If you look at the player reviews on this site not everyone is completely happy with the orange box.

Wrong. Half Life 2, Half Life 2: Episode 1, Half Life 2 Episode 2, Portal, and Team Fortress 2.

see, you dont even know what comes in the orange box...and you dont even have the faintest clue as to what Left for Dead is about.
[QUOTE="odin2019"][QUOTE="PC360Wii"][QUOTE="odin2019"][QUOTE="organic_machine"][QUOTE="odin2019"][QUOTE="desyple"][QUOTE="RobbieH1234"]i tried to tell him that but apparently i didnt do a good enough job. you did a better one though so maybe hell finally understand now.Is this a thread properly outlining criticisms, because all I've seen is him saying it doesn't look as good graphically as Far Cry 2.

Yes and that was a Peter Molyneux game. But this is a Valve game.
I don't know any peter but there are lots of games that have tried to come up with that same thing of no replayability. I could say it about dynasty warriors and how you could play it differently each time you played the same map but could you really play it that differently? See what I mean
I have heard that exact same kind of statement before and most games don't pull it off as good as it sounds. Maybe this game will change that though who knows? The map editor part sounds good.
