I get the feeling most people in here have never played TF2 competitively. That's the only answer.ice144
I've played with some competitive TF2 players, and holy shit, it's impossible to do anything without getting instantly killed.

I only have it on the PC. I'm not going to buy CS for the 360.

I'm sure the clan would be on Steam.
Well in that case we might as well make a Steam System Wars group. I would be up to be a co-creator/manager for that. I'll throw it in the lounge. Don't go off making stuff yet. I'll give it some thought and keep System Wars posted. Gotta generate some real interest before doing something like that.
Steam is a very powerful community tool that is great to use.

Personally I think TF2 without crits, without some terrible items like the Huntsman and Dead Ringer, and perhaps a two-per-team cap limit on classes would be an amazing competitive game. Sadly that's not the case :(

That's mostly how competitive TF2 works, and competitive TF2 is very much alive. Only there's Highlander and 6's, in Highlander there's 1 of each class, and in 6's the are 2 Soldiers, 2 Scouts, a Medic, and a Demoman, altough they can all switch, but there can't be more than 2 of each class, and there can only be 1 Demoman and 1 Medic, and 1 Heavy.
Yah, but try-hard gaming is not what I want :P
I just want to play a 10v10, or a 12v12, and not get randomly crit, or have 5 snipers on my team :P
That'd be a very nice pick-up-and-play competitive game which is what I want.
There's some servers like that although they're pretty rare. Look for highlander servers or no crits. Generally you'll find better players in those servers too.All time

More recent/modern competitive fps mp games? uh maybe Team Fortress 2. It was pretty balanced at one point. It's easily my favorite competitive mp shooter of the gen. Halo Reach and Tribes Ascend being the runner ups. But one isn't really all that competitive, and the other is a F2P game so it has some F2P drawbacks.
