I'm curious what this forum would say about Gamefaq's recent poll for the best game ever.
These choices are from the Final poll in that contest, plus the most recent runner-up.
Which is the best game of all time, do you think?

There is no best game of all time, it's all too subjective.TykainWhat is the world's subjective opinion on the matter? We vote on subjective things all the time.
Out of that list, either Ocarina of Time or FFVII. Anyone that actually thinks MGS4 is the best game of all time needs to play more games.comeonthehoopsfrom that list i would say MGS4 but its no where near the best game ever.
monkey island.

Excellent selection. I think I'd go with X-Com: UFO Defense, personally, though Civilization IV and Master of Orion would have to be considered as well.
Ocarina of Time for me.
How could you not put Super Mario Bros. 1 on that list? It's pretty much the reason you're playing games today.
Planescape Torment.tagyhagpfft. right, like a game with a talking skull and a guy called the nameless one with amnesia is the best game ever. sure

Dawn of war 1. But since its not up there, I'll vote for MGS4 since its the one I liked most out of all of the ones listed.

[QUOTE="funsohng"]clannadtehpiecemakerKanon>Clannad. Have yet to play Kanon, but Clannad is indeed an awesome visual novel. Anyways on topic, none of those choices. They're all wrong ;) Final Fantasy IX gets my vote.
You couldn't sum up a list of the "greatest" games of all time in a list of 500, let alone 5. Those listed in the poll, aside from A Link to the Past are laughable. There have been countless other great games deserving of those positions. Hell, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess are all better than Ocarina of Time.
Everything about the "greatest game of all time" idea is flawed. It is just a popularity contest. The truly great games are the ones very few people have even played, while the good ones are played by everyone. There is no one, singular "greatest" game. There can't be. Everyone's individual tastes vary from person to person and from genre to genre. What you need is a non-numbered list of agreed upon entrants, from every genre, on every platform, from all generations. Like the list Gamespot put together for a time.
Anyway, you still haven't said yours.tagyhagI usually go with Final Fantasy 6 or Planescape Torment or Master of Magic >_> and once in awhile I say Warcraft 2 :3
