Ok, I have no idea why everyone is hyping mass effect to suddenly become the god of games everywhere.
Yes its got probably, the most amazing graphics ever seen in a game that can't be doubted, but graphics =/= best game of all time hype.
last time i heard, mass effect's big innovative feature was the fact that the characters didn't say exactly what you selected on screen, but said something that was to do with the type of response you choose, basaically playing a pre recorded conversation depending on the type of stance you take! Wow, seriously, thats the most innovative feature ever

Its from bioware. pretty much all of their games, from baldurs gate to star wars kotr, have all been fantastic. imho the only game that came close to good instead of great was jade empire.....it was good but not up to biowares standard. but yeah, unless they completly drop the ball, chances are this is going to be a cracker.
I pretty much agree with you about the graphics part, but I think people hype graphics the most at the beginning of each generation just because it is something they haven't seen before. Nobody can deny that Mass Effect looks and sounds amazing and will most likely be an AAA game, but what happens when you have 10 games with pretty much the same story that look the same or just as good as Mass Effect? They all won't get AAA because the graphics are jaw dropping like a lot of people here think. Graphics can only take a game so far cause sooner or later GAMEPLAY and ORIGINALITY will have to kick in. I really feel sorry for lemmings and cows when graphics do hit a point where they can't get any better cause then what are you going to have? Are yall goin to be dissatisfied with gaming when graphics can't get any better.
Seriously why do you think people are saying gaming is becoming stale? It is because games lack originality, and everyone focuses on GRAPHICS GRAPHICS GRAPHICS. I mean how many alien shooters with multiplayer, racers and sports games do we need? I think we need to support original games more instead of always goin after the same old same old.

I absolutly love KOTOR, and yes i liked jade empire.
I'm not personally hyping it to be the second coming or anything, but i am anticipating its release and very hopeful it will provide an experience at least half as satisfying as KOTOR.

Just download the gameplay video's off the marketplace. You can customize you're weapons altering their use and effects. Tactical play, good leveling system, deep story, decent length (approx. 30-40 hours main story + additional approx. 30 hours exploration/sidequests), 100+ worlds to visit for good deal of exploration and knowing Bioware great replayvalue.
Jealous much? If you truly don't see anything to be excited about in this game, you either are a huge fanboy, or you haven't looked that closely at the game.
question for the topic creator: did you read any of the previews about it and the interviews from bioware...or did you just watch the short demo of the game and based your entire thread on that alone?

Oh and just to keep it clear to you, Resistance scored an 8.6 while the X360 has some games that scored higher then that and aren't even shooters. Kameo, Burnout Revenge, PGR3, DOA4.

Ha and aracde GT ripoff. Lost Odyssey dosen't look very good at all, E3 was appauling. Ninja Gaiden is inferior to GoW and the PS3 has Sigma.

Blue Dragon stands at 89%. Forza was better then GT last generation and Ninja Gaiden inferior to GOW? Right. If you like easy games. And by you're logic, GOW has blood and gore thus making it a shooter.

Are you just looking to self own yourself? :| The best game out for the PS3 is a freakin' shooter and it didn't even score AAA. There are tons of non-shooters on the X360 that scored higher then you're best scoring shooter game.

I can tell you the story from start to finsh and all the factions endings. Its GTA with magic and Ninroots. GTA actually has a better variety of missions than Oblivion. In Oblivion the only fun quest was when you went in that house and cleared out all the NPC's it was a dark brother hood quest and even the Thief guilds end quest were you took the elder scroll itself.

Shooter is shooter. Either first or third makes almost no difference. So Gears > Resistance.
Oh, and with Halo 3 coming out soon I guess you're out of luck at all.
