Lets take a break from E3 this year and talk about the generations of the past. Compare, and contrast them, and maby dicuss what made them so great.

The N64 generation was my favorite. I started gaming on the Genesis, but I didn't really become "true" gamer until the N64, so my most fond gaming memories are from then. The previous generation (Xbox/Gamecube/PS2) would be my runner up.

It was ether that or confuse the people that started the gaming on the ps1/64 who consider that the first.

I agree. Games are more immersive and more awe-insipring than ever before in history. With projects like Flower and Heavy Rain seeing success, and not having to remain part of the 'indie' genre, just because they go against the norm, is truly a great leap for the industry. Equally, the likes of Gears of War, Alan Wake, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 (an, of course, Crysis) are ground-breaking in their graphical fidelity, extending their impressiveness further. And lets not forget that this is the generation where motion-controlled gaming and online console gaming has become mainstream, and 3D gaming is becoming a reality - not only are we the closest to photorealisim that we've ever been, we've had plenty of other revolutions to boot.

If you want to play games from previous generations then is this gen so good? :P Nah really, that defeats the purpose of this thread. Just choose one which you thought was better, regardless of whether you can go back and play older games.

This gen. I play a lot less, but there has been so many good titles that I am never at a point where there is nothing to play, nothing new to pick up. I remember quite a few luls in generations prior....

16-bit era by far. You had 4 amazing consoles and 2 add-ons with good libraries of their own.
