I'm one of the 3 who voted for "Overrated". Why? Simple, the argument that a game is "overrated" may be your opinion, but the fact stands that a AAAA game is a AAAA, a AAA is a AAA, and a AA is a AA, so whether or not you think a game is "overrated" is rather irrelevant. If people say they found a game to be overrated, that's fine, but I see WAY too many threads that say "Is (Halo, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Zelda, Pokemon, etc.) overrated?" These topics are worthless. Unless a game with high ratings is pretty much universally found to be overrated on SW (such as Call of Duty or GTA IV), which will only be the case with multiplats, then any time a game is claimed to be overrated, it's a simple form of spin used to undermine the quality of a game in contrast to a game on your platform of choice that you want to make look better. An example, someone saying "Uncharted 2's graphics are overrated, Alan Wake's are better." Maybe you think they look better, or maybe you just want to troll. Either way, by saying that, you take something that gaming publications and System Warriors all generally disagree with, then try to pass it off as relevant to an argument because you find the other to be "overrated."
Term in itself is fine, the way it gets used is annoying, especially considering how vague arguments like this are. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is overrated BECAUSE ________________ is fine. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is overrated *end of post* will cause me to give you a slap right through the internet.
