Poll What's the most you'd be willing to pay for PSN/Live? (54 votes)

$0 57%
$1-50 13%
$50-100 15%
$100-150 2%
$150-200 2%
$200-250 0%
$250+ 11%

On an annual basis, what's the most you'd be willing to pay for PSN/Live?

We're already paying a measly $5/mo ($60 annually) for both Live and PSN, so it only seems reasonable to expect price hikes in the future, so i'm wondering what your breaking point is where you finally say NO.

For what's currently offered, nothing. Not worth a cent. If there's some kind of incentive, $30CAD is the most i'd pay without bitchin'

I'm totally done with paying for online. My PSN+ expired the start of the month and I'll never miss it. Renewed my Xbox live January 1st because my buddy and I were in a Halo 5 groove, that shortly died and won't ever be renewed.

Only game EA has servers for is Battlefield and i can't think of any other game off the top of my head? If true one game is bad considering all the multiplayer titles they got.

PC xbox community is tiny they had to give it for free on there. Microsoft was hardly going to charge for live when its free with Steam.

You don't receive 4 games for free on PC?

What are you trying to argue here exactly?

Haven't we addressed all this before?

MS btw, had a chance to be a big player with PC gaming communities, but they failed because they attempted to do what they do with consoles by charging for no reason, restrictions, etc. And PC gamers were smart enough to tell them to go **** themselves. Most "pay to play"... pimps, attempted on PC fail and imo that is because PC gamers are generally smarter consumers.

As for the "free" (not really free since the only thing you get that you would not get otherwise. is those games) thing and the server thing... i invite you to look up "free mmo's". Youll find thousands of games that fit every genera and game type you can imagine and each one has dedicated servers. Or just to address free games with steam, there are 74 PAGES of free games on steam.

You tell me?

I actually think Microsoft should just release their games on Steam and make money. The Windows store is little late with Steam out already and Origin.

I haven't paid for XBLG for years now because there's various programs that you could score a subscription for free. If you or know anyone that works at retail that sells Microsoft products, you or that person may be eligible for a program called ExpertZone and they always give a year subscription of XBLG free. I know people in EZ so they just give me their code so I've stacked up years of Gold free thanks to these programs.

There's also reward programs like Xbox Rewards, Microsoft/Bing Rewards that offers free subscriptions and Xbox currency. You could easily do what's needed to be done to get those rewards, and you're pretty much set. You basically just do what you do anyway on your console and you get rewarded. Sony hardly have any reward programs where you could do quick online searches to get points to get free stuff.

And since most of the best PlayStation games are focused on single player anyway and their PS+ offering sucks on a monthly basis and it's a pain to manage storage for more than one PS console because they don't offer BC, staying subscribed to PS+ is easy to pass up. And with the Scorpio coming up and will have the best console version of multiplat games and games with multiplayer, only on the Xbox with Xbox Live is where you could play the superior console versions. Playing online should be free but if I'm not able to get Gold free, there's just a lot of ways to get these subscriptions discounted so yeah $30 or so range is fine especially when they offer more full retail games and 360 games you get to keep after the sub expires. I wouldn't subscribed to PS+ on a regular basis though, you could easily skip months and months of PS+ and you would be fine.

Honestly, people gladly pay $60-80/mo for their cell phone, which comes out to $720-960/year. I'd happily pay $250+ for the excellent services provided by both PSN and XBL. They are clearly a better, more secure experience than what you could get on the PC. At $25/mo, i'd have ZERO issues paying to game online.

Except your cell phone doesn't use your existing internet. You can use a cell phone basically anywhere. That's what you are paying for; the ability to go on the internet, call and text anywhere you are.

At home, you are forced to pay a 2nd fee just to use your own internet.

That's a bad comparison.

Which is why I wouldn't expect to pay $60-80/mo, but it's still reasonable to pay something. Even at $25, it's a bargain.

I think it is. I'd be happy to pay $250. Hell, i'd probably pay up to $40 a month if they gave me 3-4 games a week.

I only buy and sell using bitcoin, so this poll is confusing to me.

I think the only cost for online access should be the price of one game a year, as in include a code in every game box.

That doesn't make sense. Microsoft has to maintain the service, so they should get fairly compensated.
