What's the point in buying a PS3 right now?

What's the point in buying a PS3 right now? Even at $500, it's still pretty pricey. Aside from bluray movies, Resistance and a couple of other titles, it doesn't seem to have that many games out there that are worth playing at all.

Exactly what you mentioned, PS3 owners are watching 1080p Blu-ray movies, playing Resistance and a couple of other titles, perhaps some PS2 games once in a while (You know, the PS2? That one with FF and all MGSs?), and we are patiently waiting for the really big games to come .. So what's your point?

Blu-Ray. If I were to get one now, this would be the main reason. A Blu-ray player that can also, incidentally, play some cool games that are already out.

What does the 360 have? Not that much either, nothing big has been released since Forza 2. Everytime I see someone on here listing the spectactular 360 library, its mainly games that are like 8 months old or older.

That's true. The 80GB PS3 will eventually hit the $500 mark too won't it? If it does so next summer, it may be worth looking into because there should be more games on the system by then.

For those who don't care for bluray at the moment (waiting for the format wars to end :( ) and already have a PS2, is there much point in having a PS3 right now? Why not wait for some more games to come out in addition to another price drop or two before purchasing the system? That's what I'm trying to get at.

Im having a blast playing Motorstorm, Resistance and VF 5. I love watching BluRay movies as well. As far as multiplats go, I have The darkness, NCAA 2008 and APF 2K8 and am thoroughly enjoying them as well. Games Im looking forward to in 2007...Lair(EGM doesnt mean anyhting to me. IGN and GS will have the real say in the matter), CoD 4,HAZE, Folklore,Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, UT 3, Madden 2008, GTA 4 and a few others.

As a member of the PSWii60 club, I can honestly say that as far as each console goes, the PS3 has the most upside of the 3. For $500 you are getting alot with the PS3 as it is a high quality machine all the way around!!

TO tell you the god honest truth, and this hurts to say as a cow, I don't OWN a PS3 game right now. I will very, VERY soon own several (HS, Lair, Uncharted, Ratchet) but nothing now.

I rent a lot. Resistance is worth a play while Motorstorm was overhyped. I play a lot of demos in spare time. HS, GTHD v1.2, that stuff. BUt that draught end with Lair and soon following Warhawk and Heavenly Sword. Then my PS3 purchase shall be justified.

Sorry, I know alot of people who enjoy their PS3 more than their 360. Thats cause they don't come on gamespot and say "boooo that game sucks it got an 8.9, just goes to show 360 is far superior to PS3"

If I had a choice between the two systems, I'd pick a PS3 even though it has no AAA exclusives and two AA exclusives. Why? Because even though your precious 360 and its millions of AAA exclusives (atleast in the eyes of lemmings on this site) its still unreliable. Everytime I turn my 360 on I worry if its gonna fail on me or not. Microsoft did say 100% of the consoles are defective. "Bu but the 3 year warranty" yeah..you know there are other hardware issues besides the red lights (which they have to reproduce, if they dont your out of luck...and money)

Obviously, they are exclusive to the 360 =/ If they weren't, what would all the fuss be about? I see no "Sigma" on 360, so it's a PS3 exclusive, I see no extra content in GTA4, so it's OBVIOSLY exclusive.

Xbox does have sigma, it is call ninja gaiden black. It is not an exclusive because it is the same gameplay and levels as black but with more levels and new characters. VF5 for xbox 360 has new characters, level and online play so according to you logic it is an exclusive.
