how rare are 3do games because those would be my rarest games. Who else here has Captain Quasar, Way of the Warrior, Gex, Road Rash, Dragon's Lair, SF2T, Alone in the Dark, etc. for 3DO.
Other than that, I guess PS1 games that are somewhat rare I guess like bust-a-groove, parasite eve and others I really don't have a clue about.
Hmm I dunno if windwaker LE is rare (the one with OOT and master quest) is rare but i got that, but I can rock it old school I got "Revs" on C64 and a few others
This one seperates the men from the boys, some of you might call yourselves fans or fanboys, but that kind of talk is pointless unless you've got the goods to back it up.
Anyway, rare or hard to come by games can be a good sign of this, so I ask you System Wars, what is the RAREST game you own?
For me, it's my copy of Casltevania: Symphony of The Night. Bear in mind, it's a PAL copy so it is a bit rarer than the NA copy, not to mention MILES better due to the box art alone :P
But to top it off it's the pre-order edition which comes with an art book and a Castlevania music CD.
Can anybody beat that?
Rob-Belmont
i have starcraft 64 us and suikoden for psx pal.
I owned Beauty and the Beast: Beast's affair and the sequel Beauty and the Beast : The Divorce. Sadly only 2 copies of each were made.
Valkyria Chronicles PSP, evangelion another cases PSP, guilty gear xx the midnight carnival #reload PSP imports from japan
I dunno, I have blazblue and I got it when there's literally not a single copy available in north america.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence Limited Edition. Unlike "collector's editions" that are released this generation, it actually saw a limited release, only through pre-order on ebgames.com. The average price on eBay ranges from $200-300, for a game released in 2006. That is quite insane given how only games like Radiant Silvergun for the Saturn can actually match that demand/cost.
for vidoe games:
PS2:
Ico
National Hockey Night
SNES:
Biker Mice from Mars
This is not a video game but it is a game, and it is both collectible and rare.
I still have the Electric Football Game I got on Christmas morning 1959 when I was 6 years old. I still have it in the originlal box with all the players for both teams.
Home Pong by Atari came out when I was In college. I did buy one and gaming has kept improving over the years....from pin ball machines to bouncing on electrified aluminum to membrane keyboards to what we have and what will be.

Demon's Souls deluxe edition.
I am not joking either. There were only five of them total in the whole city of Chicago when it came out.

According to RarityGuide.com, new in box black label is worth a couple hundred. The one with the misprint, which I have, is worth even more....again new, still sealed.
Most of the videogames people list as "rare" aren't. A simple test is to go on any good international dealer, auction, or sales site and see what your game is worth. Many games people think are "hard to find" - such as FF VII, Disgaea, and yes Demon's Souls, can be had for under $60. In other words, you can get 99% of old games for *less* than a current-gen new game. In fact, these games are selling for *less* than the cost (adjusted for inflation ) in their respective time period.

Something really isn't a "rare collectible" yet if it's below it's starting value.
-
Videogames are mass produced with the intention of being commodities, and the digital marketplace is making it so old games never really go away. To have something truly rare, you need an obscure item. Limited-quantity promotional items, original storyboards, mint-condition arcade boards from the 1970s, prototype models of consoles - that sort of thing. These items carry a value to collector because they're "insider items" - they're a piece of gaming history in a way that a game which is mass produced isn't.
-
Sure that gold Zelda cartridge is cool - but to a collector, you want something no one else has - you want the original computer the 3D model for Cloud was created on, with original files on the hard drive, not a copy of Final Fantasy VII someone else has already played.
Actully a copy of FFVII is hard to find where I live. Which is a good thing for me I sold one of my GH copies for 55 bucks on amazon.jasonharris48
hmmm...it's not on a cartridge more like those floppy disks (actually, 3 of them. i know! lol.) and the game is called Spear of Destiny. i was still a kid when it came out in 1992 (i was 3). and this agent that's a co-worker of my mom had it installed in this MS Windows 3.0 (or 3.1?). anyways, it's the prequel to Wolfenstein.
and uh...maybe Alex Kidd or Vectorman. or Kid Chameleon.
