Nintendo isnt a direct competitor, are they? Maybe they are maybe they arent, i dont know.
Microsoft just fumbled their conference for the console, and sony rolled with it. Sony made sure to keep what people were complaining about with ms, in the spotlight.
Honestly, people have short memories in gaming...especially casuals.
It's only us high strung hardcore gamers that keep these things highlighted. 2013 is ancient history in the mind of a causal gamer.
No one even thinks about what happened in E32013 when looking at a xbox today.
But TODAY they DO look at Xbox One's line up of games on the shelf compared to competitors PS4 and yes Switch. It's a system that retails for $300, more than Xbox One S.
- They see God of War, Spiderman and Horizon Zero Dawn for PS4.
- They see Zelda BOTW, Mario odyssey and Smash Bros Ultimate for Switch....
- ...Then they see Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3 for Xbox.
They choose the system that has the best looking games OUTSIDE of multiplats.
This is all supported by real world results.

Just look at that list! * = exclusives. Xbox has NONE anyone wants. This is the reality.
2013 has nothing to do with it at this point.
And If a casual buys one system they're most likely not going to bother buying the other.
