What is the scariest level that you found in a game? Feel free to post screenshots. Mine was "We Don't Go To Ravenholm" in Half Life 2, it's not like I'llcrap my pants when I play thisbut it justfeel a bit freaky.

All I know is I've never been as scared in a game when the damn bats crashed through the windows in RE2.
Also, the parts in Resistence 2 when you go through the dark tunnels and the zombieish guys are after you. That sucked.
Speaking of which that part with the chameleons that do one hit kills was scary as fudge!!Scariest levle?
From what I have read.
Pathalogic
Thief 3 - The Cradle
Penumbra
From what I have played- and strikes my mind first.
Dear Esther. (not exactly scary, but beautifully haunting)
Cryostasis
STALKER SoC (controllers, bloodsuckers and poltergeists still strike a chord... snorks too...)
This, I about jumped outta my skin when this happened - those who played will remember this part. :twisted:The Suffering.
Also this part.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: SoC - Lab X18,
Vampire: The Masquerade - Oceanside Hotal,
Just to name a few.8)
Theses might not seem Scary when your watching them, but they are when your playing them Late at night.:o
Dont laugh, but i was thinking F.E.A.R. the level where your in the ARMA facility looking for alma when your working your way to her and you see all those images and when your running out before the explosion and those shadows attack you, that was pretty scary imo.

Forest Temple along with every other temple in OOT and every single last bit in Majoras Mask. Its mainly to do with the music that makes it scary.
I personally have never been scared of any survival horror game (played alot of them) but the kind of creepy eerie things that are not meant to scare you scare the crap out of me.
A town riddled with a spreading disease / infection, slowly killing of the population and spreading as days go by. The player simply has to survive, interacting with the town and its inhabitants as they die off in realtime. From what I have read in a few feature pieces, its an amazing game. Wish I could get my hands on it.I was just about to ask you if you recommended it, because I remember RPS having some mixed, but at times very kind words about it.skrat_01

Gosh. I hated the Iron Maidens...... though I liked them in the way they delivered scares.[QUOTE="CrashMan09"]
My vote goes to the island laboratory in Resident Evil 4.skrat_01
The sound they make... in particular is unforgettable.
Me too...i also loved the set up for their reveal, how the camera pulled in over Leon's shoulder more than normally. Very unnerving.A town riddled with a spreading disease / infection, slowly killing of the population and spreading as days go by. Yup I read the same article (parts 1, 2 and 3) then the EuroGamer article amoung a few others. Personally its the sense of dread and desperation of the scenario, unsettling atmosphere and gameplay makes much more of an impression on me than the thrills of jump scares in the long run. It seems flawed in quite a few ways, but very strong in others the developers intended.Me too...i also loved the set up for their reveal, how the camera pulled in over Leon's shoulder more than normally. Very unnerving. AAllxxjjnnIt was pretty thrilling. Enviroments became highly claustraphobic as you carefully navigated your surroundings, listening for that noise... and if you heard it, well then panic can settle in. There was some great forshadowing in setting up their reveal, you knew that you were going to encounter something in order to progress... but it was all a bit misleading of how off-putting the final creature was - which was great.

I hated that part. -.- That monster was so annoying. I would have to say...some part from Condemned. That was the scariest game I've ever played.skrat_01
RE4 Regenerator sections
Also, going down in the abandoned vaults were scary especially any with mutated bears, death claws, ghouls, mirelurkes :?
Halo 2 flood.

IMO this part of the game wasnt scary at all. I was just annoyed by those stupid jelly beans that kept chasing me.

Learn the halo 2 names.
Not sure about that, though i didn't play with my headphones on.. The game got pretty predictable.. Oh look a dead mutant on the ground I didn't kill.. Chances are he is alive, and just waiting for me to come close.. It had a few jump out moments and thats really it.. Not to mention the plot devices were pretty irrational.. Sure main character you go do all the tough stuff, even though all you are is a engineer.. While the combat vet guards the woman and sits back.Pretty much every level in Dead Space had me shivering in fear :D

Yeah the music made the temple pretty creepy. Shadow Temple was more creepy through.
And Ikana Valley was creepy too mostly because of the music.
