What's with the hypocrisy?

Now I'm trying to be fair about the systems. And I'm so sick of people complaining about PS3's price tag especially when they have freakin LIVE! Come on! Why are you guys complaining about a 400 dollar system where if you get the arcade after a four years you've paid the same price just to play online? (Please don't talk about getting cards of amazon because I can buy a PS3 cheaper of Amazon/ebay as well). Also I can see where the people who pay for LIVE are coming from, its a better service and to them its worth their money but why complain about a higher priced console that truth be told isn't really that expensive? Especially considering people use the SAME EXACT ARGUMENT you people use except when they use it their WRONG. *sighs*

So why do people only complain about price when its for an opposite system?

Or is it just a fanboy thing? Can someone please explain this to me?

It's because they really don't want the other console but they are hiding behind the price so they don't look like a Fanboy.

If it was the games don't interest me I can understand but if they are paying $50 a year just for online and then complain about the price of a console.

When I had a 360 I only used Live when I had Free Subscriptions like one time somebody on my friends list gave me a full year subscription to live for free.

Now I'm trying to be fair about the systems. And I'm so sick of people complaining about PS3's price tag especially when they have freakin LIVE! Come on! Why are you guys complaining about a 400 dollar system where if you get the arcade after a four years you've paid the same price just to play online? (Please don't talk about getting cards of amazon because I can buy a PS3 cheaper of Amazon/ebay as well). Well, here it probably IS a fanboy thing. Personally I am waiting till the PS3 comes down in price because it is nearly 3 times as expensive as a 360 in the UK.

I just skimmed through what u wrote so forgive me if I misunderstood:

I think it's a price/value problem. It's not necessarily that people are being hypocrites, but people are going to try to justify price vs. value.

There is a difference between $50 and $400.

I usually find that many Live users themselves are not comfortable with Live prices and would think it should be a free service, but there are not many complaints seeing as the $50 is spread throughout the year. When you get down to arguing for paying about $5 a month, then the argument for Live starts to get petty IMO.

When it comes to the PS3, it's not that it's overpriced (like Live may seem to be). The PS3 seems like just the right price, but just too over-abundant on features that people are willing to sacrifice for a lower price.

So, though Live is expensive/unnecessarily priced, it is affordable, while the PS3 is the most advanced but expensive.

I see no hypocrisy in this.

It's a lot of money up front, and I don't have that kind of money to put up forth up front. Paying 35ish bucks a year isn't bad at all.Stevo_the_gamer

You could just put the PS3 on Lay away. That's what I'm doing. You can pay it off in increments but you can't play it when it is on layaway.

who has time to complain about the price when there is never enough time to complain about it being the 2nd or 3rd best video game system?

i guess you could say sony hurt themselves by pricing themselves into 3rd place this gen(well the time this gen that matters at least) but other than that i don't judge what people do with the money they earn, it's theirs to do with what they please.

I complain about the PS3 price not because I can't afford it, but because the PS3 doesn't have enough stuff I want to justify the price for me.

PS3 fanboys before NPD, "teh 360 is more expensive cuz u need to buy teh WiFi, 6 years of Live, PlayNCharge, etc..."
PS3 fanboys after NPD: "teh 360 is only 1/2 of PS3's price, of course it sells more! Sony is doing just fine!!"

When you spend hundreds of dollars on a gaming system, you want to justify your purchase (be it graphics or exclusives, or some other meaningless BS)

It's simple. The Ps3's price tag requires all the money upfront, while XBL requires it yearly.

Well, for me, I dont look at LIVE costs as a "hardware cost". I actually see it as a software cost.One less game a year, to enjoy the others a whole lot more.

i think when people use it for argument sake, theyre talking bout the perspective of the average consumer which looks at the $300 more kindly than $400.

But actaully using it here in system wars to make fun of how someone paid so much, is just fail (for lemmings i mean; rrod, live, come on)

It's just more money up front that's all. Sometimes people don't like to spend more at first.

But I've probably spent more on my 360 than my PS3 thus far after upgrading my Arcade version. I've since bought a HD, a wireless adapter, initially the HD drive (which I sold), rechargeable kits... etc... eventually... it ends up costing more than a PS3. The PS3 has been good to go out of the box since I bought it.
