Whats with these Cafe hype?

if it has 1gb of ram thats 4 times what ps3 has ( no gpu memory does not count) plus even a 4670 pwns the ps3 5 times over with games. 1080p will be easy with a r700 card plus with open gl and console optomization it will look great.

Why can't people just wait till E3 before making any conclusions about Wii 2? It is not as if we actually know what Cafe even is. Internet rumors are more often wrong than right. The internet rumors were quite wrong about the hardware behind the 3DS. A couple more weeks guys...

Personally, I think we all deserve to see a software-only Nintendo, seeing the subpar quality of their consoles in comparison to Sony and Microsoft's. I understand that die-hard Nintendo fans would disagree, but having a platform that excels only in shovelware is not something to be proud of. Personally, i find that as game developers, Nintendo know what they are doing. I'd imagine that they'd be able to do more if they dropped their console line-up, and made Super Smash Bros 4 on the Xbox 720, PS4, and next-gen PCs.

The simple answer is; a new system always generates hype, simply because it is new, and will become the successor to the old system.

But wow, do you make a lot of assumptions here. We have no real information on the GPU or any of the other specs of cafe. The nxt Xbox and Playstation systems coming in 2013 isn't confirmed. How long they will take to produce their games in HD is anybody's guess. Even the screen on the controller is only a rumor. The "leaked" images aren't verified as authentic.

It would be best to have some verified facts before passing any kind of judgement on an upcoming system.

I hope the specs are better than the crap I have been reading about. At least a dx 11 gpu and 2 or more gigs of ddr5 ram with a decent cpu and a hard drive. I also hope nintendo uses blu-ray instead of some weird format with no space like they always do. That way the system will at least be around for a couple years and devs can make some good games plus cafe will get all the ports from the next gen ms and sony consoles.

I know tha nintendo wants to make money on the hardware and the would put out some weak hardware with a gimmick plus a high price. I hope that all my fears are put to rest at the e3. I hope it is not the same old zelda,mario,kirby,starfox,motion crapware but some new ip's that I would give a damn about.

Why zelda is the only game with a story and they have been in 3d from the n64 and even had motion on the wii. They have been done to death the only gimmick missing is 3d. The guys have been in 2d before that. They used to be fun but it would be like making love to a sexy woman all the time after a while it becomes stale.

The only game that can really change is zelda but I doubt the big N has the skills to get it on the elder scrolls level.. Smash brothers could be upgraded also with better graphics and deeper game play. The rest are pretty much done as far as I am concerned.

The only game that can really change is zelda but I doubt the big N has the skills to get it on the elder scrolls level.. Smash brothers could be upgraded also with better graphics and deeper game play. The rest are pretty much done as far as I am concerned.

I would look to sega for the answer to the big N as a software only company. Nintendo games sell because there is not much other high quality games on their systems. If the nintendo games went against the other games on the 360 or ps3 I really doubt they would still do the same numbers IMO. Would they still sell yes but they would do about 1/2 I would guess what they sell now. Pluss nintendo would lose out on the console royalties they charge and the hardware sale money.

This why nintendo will sell consoles and won't make them cutting edge or pay to license for blu-ray because that cuts into profits on hardware. Nintendo would rather come up with a gimmick and skip on features and specs. As you can can see by the the cafe specs they are going low end. Nintendo could have went higher end on the gpu and cpu plus the ram is low. They also most likely going with a strange optical storage and skipping the hard drive also to increase profits. The gimmick is the lcd on the controle to sell the wii2/cafe and get killed when the 720/ps4 comes out.

Well Nintendo has created and then engulfed the casual market. Making them insultingly successful, forcing the competition (two compamnies I also love mind you) to attempt to replicate and steal that business model from them. now in a brilliant about-face Nintendo is now preparing to re-ensnare the hardcore market that they have shied away from with an amazing new powerful next-gen console that also utilizes classic Nintendo innovation. Likely (but of course not definitely) ensuring their continued dominance throughout this next generation. Does that help there buddy? :D

Also, if you were burned by two great consoles then that's your problem not understanding great games and great consoles. None of us are shedding a tear for you I promise. So feel free to carry on.

If the info is wrong this would be the 1st time 01net got it wrong on upcoming console specs. They got the ngp specs perfect way in advance. Not only them but multiple sources all say the same thing. There is no info on the speed of the parts the info is general. Now the gpu will have some custom parts for example the memory bus on the r700 is a couple gens old and they could add some cache mem. There is no info on the die size either or type of system mem The info as is should be spot on. Now the controller is another story the size of the lcd and what kind it is shaky.

I too am clumsy about dual analog. I'd go as far as to say that despite my pessimistic view on Nintendo's place in the console market, the motion sensing thing has potential. Then again, if we're talking about FPS games, i'm still rooting for good-ol' was-duh!

Also, i do see some good things coming from a software-only nintendo, and i'm not too sure if it outweighs the bad aspects.

Here's why I think it would be cool to see a software only nintendo:

-A remake of Ocarina of Time designed to push the PS3, 360, and PC to their full hardware potential
-A 2.5D Kirby Super Star
-Being able to finally play Metroid Prime with a keyboard/mouse
-They'd still make quality games.
-Given Nintendo's history with gaming, I'd say that devs might WANT to have their games to be published by Nintendo, while not having to compromise with lower-end hardware
-A complete Legend of Zelda collection that would be more definitionier than what it would be on Nintendo hardware (Then again, i'd imagine Valve trying to do everything they can to give the Demoman the Biggoron Sword)

OK I am a nintendo hater because I don't have fanboy goggles on and would like them to adjust to the current market lol. I hate nintendo cause I want them to have some good hardware and 3rd party support. Yeah I hate nintendo so I bought every console from the snes on up.

Could be I don't like the direction that nintendo is going after the cube. Could be that if nintendo does not get it in gear project cafe could be their last console. Nintendo is going to have a 1 year lead in the next gen war and they need to make a powerful console with good features and good online gaming for a good price.

I feel like a hypocrite for using this but it seems almost necessary...



If Nintendo keeps delivering experiences like DKCR, NSMBW and SMG2... I'll keep paying. Would love a Koopa-centred game though.

This is the problem with nintendo they don't have 3rd pty support. The little 3rd party support on the wii is not pushed games come out with little to no warning. So nintendo makes some good games then their console collects dust till the next big nintendo game comes out. The 360 and ps3 have good 1st party games as well but they also get 3rd party support and have good online gaming. Well sony used to have online gaming till they got hacked. This is why I am a pc gamer 1st.

1. Pc has the most exclusive games from hardcore to sims to indie games

2. Pc gets all the dlc

3. Pc gets the best version of the multiplats ie graphics sound ect

4. Pc gets mods to extend the life of games this is mostly high quality free content

5. Pc has the best online gaming by far and it is free

6. Pc games are backward compatible so you can get ****c games from steam for almost nothing with insane bundles

7. Pc owns all on the multi media from music to movies it is all there

8. I play how I want to play from gamepads to kbam to monitors to my 1080p HDTV pc has you covered

So on pc you get the best of all worlds. If nintendo makes a powerful console it will get all the multiplats from the 360/ps3. However if their system is much weaker than the ps4/720 then 3rd party support could dry up. Also nintendo needs a good online service so devs can make money and gamers can get content. I hope project cafe would have mod support like the ps3 had with unreal for example. I picked it up for 10 usd and got tons of maps and weapons plus diffrent game modes. I really do like nintendo I grew up on it but nintendo needs to look at the current market and bring their A game.

What does nintendo need with project cafe IMO

1. Good flexible hardware 10880p 60fps with every thing turned on ie AA/AF

2. Multi media even if I don't use it

3. Good online at least on the psn's current level this means headsets even if I don't use them

4. A hard drive gone are the days of memory cards there is simply too much content I would like ps3 type buy and install type

5. Blu-ray is the current standard for games and movies

6. 5.1 dd sound no more pro-logic2 crap with HDMI no cable clutter

7. Better game promotion no more silent oh crap a new game stuff

But hey it is nintendo's console.
