Demon's Souls or Dark Souls. jg4xchamp
And it could also be one of these. I think I preferred Demon's Souls just a tad bit over Dark Souls.

I feel like by the time Dark Souls came out, it didn't even matter what it did better. I had just gotten way too much Demon's Souls in my system. I should probably give Dark Souls another go. See how it stacks up now.I dunno. Arkham City or Nier. One of those.

Surprising choices. :o
Well, Arkham City is, anyway.

I didn't have any complaints with Arkham City. It's basically flawless in my eyes. The perfect open world game.

Pretty much. Dark Souls is probably entering Prime 2 territory. For all intents and purposes it's a better game in a lot of the areas that made the first one special, but you can't f*ck with the new car smell.[QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"][QUOTE="DarkLink77"]

I know, I just didn't expect it, that's all. No Vanquish?Vanquish #1 third person shooter fo sure, and definitely in the running for best gameplay ever.
There's obviously better games though.

Yeah, pretty much. Dunno if I'd called it #1 TPS overall, but it definitely has the best gameplay in the genre.[QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"][QUOTE="jg4xchamp"] I feel like by the time Dark Souls came out, it didn't even matter what it did better. Its tough to pick a favorite.
I can easily say that SMG2 is the best game I played this gen, but favorite? IDK. Probably NG2 and NGS2 (both have strengths and weaknesses). Maybe Super Meat Boy.
between Bayonetta and Halo Reach, I don't know. I ended putting crazy hours into both games.
runner ups would be Super Mario Galaxy 2, Xenoblade, and Kid Icarus Uprising.
Mario Galaxy 2.OreoMilkshake
Pfft.. kiddy casual trash for babies. Same gameplay for 20 years. Not as good as 64. You only like it cause nostalgia, etc, etc...

How could I forget dem standerdz?.... motion controls ruined it btw.
Anything that has to do with that stupid bird or mario balancing that ball are instantly ruined because they would control 100% better on an analog. Those sequences are low points in what is mostly a game filled with one great level after another.motion controls ruined it btw.

But sure I'd say similar scenario. jg4xchampGalaxy 2's brilliance aside, the familiarity is what keeps me from wanting to keep playing it, especially in the early levels. You can not overstate how important the "new car smell" is. Losing that feeling of newness is the first step on the road to franchise fatigue. Pretty much, but there are plenty of sequels that are just flat out better. Most of the time those kinds of sequels are living up to a not exactly excellent first game, but in Galaxy 2s case what it lacks in new magic it more than makes up for in sheer execution, variety, and the things Galaxy 1 didn't have in general: Challenge. The 2nd half of that game is f*cking brutal in comparison. Plus as frustrating as it was that perfect run is platforming bliss when you hit it. But yeah the first game being so damn good, and Super Meat Boy probably took some shine off that game. Oh, yeah, it's a far better game, and a of of game series can get by on iteration for a long period of time without seriously changing it up if their mechanics improve (see: God of War, Gears of War, etc). I know a lot of people are saying they want a Galaxy 3, but I really don't know where you go with that from there, because the next time, there will be crazy franchise fatigue unless they improve the game so dramatically that Galaxy 2 feels like trash in comparison.

The bird is the only one that bothered me... well the stingray as well to a lesser extent. I'm one of the psychos that actually enjoyed the balance ball though. Felt perfect to me.
But I see people on here b*tch about the waggle for extending jumps and I NEVER had an issue with that. Yet some (trolls) consider it game breaking lol.

The "waggle" for extending jumps wasn't bad at all. In hindsight it actually kind of fit the move, in that I can't really imagine getting as much satisfacton out of getting that extended jump if you just had to press the jump button a third time or whatever.

It's more frustrating in DKCR where that roll just isn't responsive with the waggle move. At least with Galaxy 2(yeah it probably would be like a second better on a button) I never had too many levels where it was too much of an issue.[QUOTE="Wiimotefan"]

I agree. It just feels right.
And yeahjg4xchamp, I hear ya on DKCR. That sh*t was just terrible. They really should have mapped it to a button.

I have to agree as well. It really made trying to get gold on time trials almost impossible since gold requires perfection, pretty much. That roll move was a stain on an otherwise great game.

Phew... time trials. That game was HARD. Even for an old school guy, I found myself out matched. But yeah, the roll certainly didn't do me any favors.
