Conker's Bad Fur Day on the N64.

Great visuals, great sound and amazing gameplay. The game was a platformer/3rd person shooter/first person shooter/puzzle/racing game but it managed to do ALL of them really really well. The diversity in that game was amazing. It was like something for everyone. And not that, "jack of all trades, master of none" crap.

A game that creates atmosphere like Shadow of the Colossus or Silent Hill did, that has a story of FFVII-like-quality only told as well as in Metal Gear Solid, a game that has not a single moment of me not wanting to continue it, not wanting to know how the story progresses, a game which features no pointless characters that have no impact on the story whatsoever; a game that is full of those "wtf, I thought this was a cutscene but I'm actually playing it!"-moments games offer now and then, a game featuring a soundtrack comparable to the works of Uematsu and Yamaoka, yet also knowing when music isn't necessary; a game you can show to non-gamers and have them admit that video games are a form of art -

My idea of a perfect game is a game that is so good in every way, shape, and form that no person, no matter how fanboyish he may be could possibly complain about it.

In other words, it's impossible.

Imagine Mass Effect with 60 hours gameplay at least, completely ballanced and refined RPG systems, absolutely every texture is never shown more than once and has the most advanced bump mapping your eye could ever see, the Citadel is completely explorable, the Normandy can be controlled, the endings can be good, bad (bad being so bad that the good guy has an hour of gameplay where he is on the enemies side and shares their ideals etc.), and in between (the current bad ending will do). More uses for the renagade and paragon features. Unique sound effects for every gun, and a realtime biotic command list perhaps instead of using firearms (instead of stopping the game to use throw for example), thus keeping the games flow. More vehicles and a veriety of minigames, like when breaking into things, or perhaps more gambling options instead of just quasar machines. Much deeper and meaningful side quests which affect everything. Detailed unique objects and other things making planet exploration less boring.

If they made that, I don't think I would ever put the controller down.

A game with out the cliched boss monsters/fights that eveyone seems to love but I HATE with a story that can keep me interested, flawless controls, a lead character that doesn't look like a hairdresser, great sound and fantastic level design.

There you go.

Hmmmm.... basically, if Two Worlds turned out GOOD with free roaming online multiplayer kind oflike an MMO. but instead it turned out some laggy garbage with 2 enemy voice animations.

It has to be completely enjoyable. For me, it's not about whether it has the best graphics or the most compelling story (although both are nice additions), it's really about how much do I enjoy the game, and a perfect game will mean I constantly enjoy it. That's why Super Mario Galaxy and No More Heroes come close to that for me.

prob something nintendo made, with a great storyline (with character development, plot twists etc), great level design and atmosphere, great art style and amazing soundtrack

doesn't necessarily have to have multiplayer .. in fact, it might be better without it, dare i say it!

^ i could basically be describing a future zelda game, hopefully, or maybe a metroid?
