In terms of the number of hours I've spent with a gaming system, it'd be between Switch and XB1.
But I think my heart will always say that Gamecube is my favourite console, with the OG Xbox runner up.
Kinda have to say PS1 by default. Just so many classics on that system. Though I do love the NES as well.
That being said, I'm fairly new to PC, and I'm already in love. I can't freaking believe what I've been missing all this time.
@i_p_daily: Sega was king back then. Sonic, Castle of Illusion, Daytona, Sega Rally, Virtua Fighter, Crazy Taxi. The list goes on and on. EA also made some pretty fantastic titles for the Genesis.
I used to play a lot of EA games back then when they were pure with such classics as PGA III, Road Rash 2, Jungle Strike but to name a few. Yeah Sega made the most classics of any developer EVER.
And Sega had classics in every genre there was back in the day, so they really were the best not even Nintendo could keep up.
PC is by far, far the worst gaming platform there is.
Lol, I wouldn't go that far, but it's definitely one of the most overrated.
As much as i think Sony & PS suck at least they were designed to make video games, PC's weren't and never will be.
PC is the worst format for video games EVER.
Sega Master System, Dreamcast, PS1/2/3/4.
Not surprising you're a bitter person on here, you went from the best games with the best gameplay, to Sony with neither of those.
Any consoles would be more of a nostalgia pick for me. And in that sense would go with stuff like NES, SNES, Genesis. Obviously not just pure nostalgia, great games on those. Also really dig the gen 6 consoles, PS2 being my most played.
Easier to just say which systems I don't care for - PS1 + N64. Interesting times for sure, big transition and very experimental, but the selection of games I still enjoy from those machines is microscopic.
But yeah, PC at this point. Even if just on library alone.
For me the magical era of gaming was the Mega Drive (Genesis) and SNES era. The reason being is that I went from an 8-bit Commodore 64 with games on tapes (Yes, cassette tapes!!) to near instant loading on cartridges. It was like owning your own arcade machine at home!

By that logic the Xbox One was designed to watch TV.

PC used to have its own unique library. Now it's just 95% console games plus indie games that look like they came from 1995 lol. Hermits have been hyping Star Citizen for almost a decade and it's been a no show.

Enough bullshit, please explain how the platform that does the most and does it the best is the most overrated.
Probably the GameCube ... despite my favorite games being in other platforms (SNES and N64), the GC was the first platform i bought my games with my own money and i loved each moment of them, from Metroid Prime and Echoes, to Windwaker, Paper Mario, Melee and Resident Evil 4 ... little console had everything i needed at that time.
I don't have a "Most" favorite console of all time, because I've enjoyed quite a few that really impressed me.
Here are some of my favorites:
As someone who never grew up with a PlayStation 1 or Nintendo 64, i'm probably gonna have to say Win9x. I could cheat and say "PC" but that's vague as all hell and I think saying "Windows 9x" covers the same console generation that is covered by the aforementioned early 3D consoles.
- A fair games that I've grown to love even if no one else has ever played them
- I think i was actually able to run Freedom Force on that beige clunker
- Apogee was still the king of Shareware even when they started to call themselves 3D Realms
- Backwards compatiblity with DOS and Windows 3.1 games
- Roller Coaster Tycoon 1. Yes, that game gets its own damn bullet point.
- I think this was around the time when ZDOOM started being a thing. Its earliest beginnings? Doom with freelook and jumping.
@R4gn4r0k: Wrong, the XB1 is designed to play games first, everything else was just added features. Whereas PC's aren't created by the user for gaming in mind, "gaming" PC's are usually put together by the user using different components from different manufacturers to create a "custom" gaming device.
Hopefully i've cleared that up for you.
The SNES. I have a lot of fond memories of playing Super Mario World and Street Fighter II: Turbo. It was also the first console I ever owned.
PC easily. PC is your starter Pokémon that levels up with you and gets stronger throughout your gaming journey. You have a team of other platforms, but your starter is the foundation.
Close 2nd would be PS2. It had more games only available on that console than any other console I've owned, and it released at a time when gaming tried new things and new IPs. My least favorite console was probably the 360. It was my most expensive console (over $800) because I had to buy 2, and It doesn't matter what games a console has if the console is a POS that dies when trying to run them.
Concept-wise: the Switch. I've always wanted a console that I can play anywhere and be hooked up to the TV. So in concept, the Switch has always been my dream console.
In reality: the PC. hands down my favorite platform and the best platform, play your games however you want and adjust them to your liking.
With nostalgia goggles: SNES. My first ever game console and probably the one with the fondest memories.
Amazing generation, amazing exclusives from both, amazing library and support, amazing competition of that generation. Best damn generation in gaming history, IMHO.
For toilet gaming, switch.
Other that, ps5. Best looking games on the planet.
People spend 5000 dollars on pcs and play flash games and fort nite.
WORTHLESS
