[QUOTE="Cherokee_Jack"][QUOTE="DarkLink77"]Redemption is still possible. I mean, look at Gears 3. :PDarkLink77
Haven't played Gears 2 yet. Was it just the multi that was screwed up or what?

Writing was A LOT worse, too. Campaign was good overall, and Horde's fun if you've never played something like Firefight (which is far, far better), but the multiplayer... oh, God, the multiplayer. It was so bad. Words cannot describe how broken Gears 2's MP is.

Well, that's good. I liked Gears 1 pretty well for the SP. If I get my Xbox back today I'll play it, since I got a copy a while back...probably check out the multiplayer for lols as well.

[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Mass Effect 2. Went from most-promising sci-fi IP I've every encountered to bro-gamer, chest-high-walls trash. Reading those novels made me wonder if Karpyshyn was even involved with the script for the game. It was just a conglomeration of side-quests and lacked a daunting antagonist. The first game was extraordinary... and as a complete package, ignoring the sequel, it is still an amazing experience. My only gripe was the location of the final boss fight... but then again, I shouldn't complain given what they did to "make up for it" in the second game. I was expecting even greater freedom to explore and discover in the second game... but all I got was a serial melodrama pieced together with one if the worst plots I've ever encountered in a game.

ME2 was my second biggest disappointment after DA2. I also read the novels. And I can't imagine why he'd let them take this incredible universe he created and just throw in such an uninspired plot. The fact that most of the game was optional unattached friend missions (a few of which were pretty poorly told) makes it clear that they had little concern for pacing and continuity. The last boss was good for a laugh, too. When the best story your game tells is in a DLC you know you've done something wrong. Oddly enough, I really love that game. :P

Lost Planet 2. First game was some good mindless bug-killin' action. Second game was just frustrating garbage. At least things like Dragon Age 2, Metroid Prime 3, Mass Effect 2, etc. while taking their series in directions I didn't like as much, were functional games. Lost Planet 2 was nearly unplayable. Even Resident Evil 5 was more entertaining (not entirely for the right reasons, but whatever works, I guess).

Also, Marvel VS Capcom 3. Marvel VS Capcom was never a super balanced fighting game, but that Dante wild stomp infinite just shows infinite laziness on the part of the developer.

I'm disappointed in the Dragon Quest 4 and Final Fantasy 4 remakes on the DS, but not enough to never try to finish them. I don't regret buying them though.

It's always interesting to see how varied opinions can be around the internet. MGS4 and ME2 are two of my favorite PS3 games, and I like MP3 (Neon, I stand my ground :P)

Command and Conquer 4. Probably the winner since this was the true actual ending.

Other notable mentions:

Rainbow Six: Vegas

Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising

DMC4

Age of Empires 3

GTA 4

Resident Evil 5

GTA IV. What a letdown compared to San Andreas or Vice City. I mean the game is good and I can see the hard work put into it but the missions and the game in general is very boring. On the plus side the driving is excellent.

I'd Sonic the Hedgehog, but come on, poor quality is to be expected from Sonic now a day. At this point the bad Sonic games far outnumber the good ones. I guess I'd go with Gears of War 2. Great game but the multiplayer was terrible at launch. I use to have so much fun with the original, me and my friends used to play it like every day. By Gears 2's second month all my friends either went back to Halo 3 or moved to CoD WaW. And Square Enix entire offering for this gen made me lose faith in them completely.

For me it would be Far 2 and SF4.

Far Cry 2 didn't even feel like a sequel and for SF4, for me it got too repetitive. Also the character line up was lame and then capcom did what they usually do with SF is milk the consumer with super street fighter 4, then super street fighter 4 arcade edition and finally super street fighter 4 alpha 3 arcade edition.

Fable 2. Why the hell did they TAKE AWY features in a SEQUAL? Your suppose add features and new game mechanics not take them away. It was such a shallow RPG.

I'd watch the trailers everyday being a HUGE Resident Evil fan... got the game, struggled to force myself to beat it with my friend... it was the game that almost made me quit gaming...

Personally, the generation itself was pretty disappointing. I know I expected greater games, longer story-driven much like Half-Life 2 or just bigger worlds to explore in RPGs. Granted we got a few of those, (Oblivion and Fallout come to mind instantly, as well as Just Cause 2 for it's huge open-world with tons of easter eggs scattered in such a big sandbox) but I just expected them in greater quantity.

It's a decent FPS in its own right but as a sequel to one of the best FPS, it's a a huge letdown.

Dragon Age 2. I wasn't a huge fan of the original, I actually constantly gave up on it on multiple playthroughs and never finished it... But I got hyped for the sequel, and I really enjoyed the demo. The combat felt more fluid, the narrative seemed interesting... I'm not a huge fan of RPG's, too much stat tracking for me - but even I found the game to be a completely shallow and boring experience, which led to me deserting it after 6 hours and selling it.

I don't see how anyone that has spent any significant time with GT5 could call it crap. It's certainly flawed, but it has fantastic driving physics.

Animal Crossing City Folk.

Maybe you shouldn't expect much from an Animal Crossing sequel as compared to its predecessors. However, this game was a true disaster. It was so lazily done that its gimmick (the city) turned out destroying its replay value. The animals were even more of cardboard cutouts with even more limited options when talking to them, the house sizes went back down to the GCN size, they couldn't even give it a new soundtrack, etc.

I don't understand what went through Nintendo's mind in thinking that would make a good sequel. No wait, I do: "The Animal Crossing fanbase is full of idiots who will be happy with anything we give them since they're stuck on the 'You can't change AC much' mindset". You have to admit it is genius. The fanbase really does believe too much change is bad (which is understandable), so Nintendo can easily whip up something mediocre like City Folk and easily release it.

Show me that you still care with Animal Crossing 3DS, Nintendo. If not, this is likely the last time I'll be caring about this series.

Force Unleashed 2 by far. Though I liked some parts of the game (falling to the planet and blasting everything as you go was epic), it was simply too short, and the story was SEVERELY rushed and lacking.
