2007 is one hell of a year for fans of the First Person shooter genre, but the biggest deal is that we have 7 premium FPS experiences from developers who has allready recieved numerous Game of The Year awards, for their games. The 7 games that will compete against each other this year. The 7 titles are:
Bioshock (PC/360)
From the makers of the legendary System Shock 2 comes a game thats allready being favorised as the best FPS game ever created. The games has become the 2nd highest rated FPS game ever and 5th highest ranked game ever.
Halo 3
Bungie took the world with storm when Halo was released for the Xbox back in the days. With more then 14 million games sold and with over 1 million preordered copies of Halo 3, it looks like its the audience favorite.
The Orange Box (PC/360/PS3)
Half-Life has become a phenomenon in the FPS genre as it dint just give the players one of the most well made FPS experiences, but it also made a huge difference at the worlds online community at the time. With 5 games in a bundle for the price of one game, we are getting the critically acclaimed Half-Life 2, the well recieved Episode one and the well awaited Episode Two. The new physics related game called Portal and Team Fortress 2 that is allready being described as being the best multiplayer game for 2007.
Metroid Prime 3: Curruption
Fans of the Metroid series was worried when Nintendo gave Retro Studios, the rights to make a FPS game based on the Metroid series. Instead of the game being a medicore experience, we got a game that took everyone with storm. Metroid Prime is the best reviewed FPS game of all time and the second game also did very well, so Curruption has high expectations. In only a week, it has generated 400,000 in sales and counting and high praise across the gaming world.
Crysis
When the original game Far Cry launched it was a sleeper hit that instantly got alot of succes. Due to the problems about the Far Cry franchise, Crytek are then making Crysis and every person who has layed their hands on the game, has been blown away.
Call of Duty 4 (PC/360/PS3)
The Call of Duty franchise has been the number one WWII game series for most players and the games has been major sellers in stores. Infinity Ward is shifting the experience from WWII into a modern war game and has been one of the most talked of games, in the press. It's drawing praise far and wide as perhaps the definitive modern shooter, with impeccable online play.
Unreal Tournament 3 (PC in 2007, PS3 and X360 TBA)
Unreal Tournament rewrote our experience with online multiplayer and quickly became a phenomenon. The fast gameplay and cutting edge graphics made the UT series something the competitors could not match. With a story mode, user generated content and wilder graphics then ever, Epic is trying their best to steal our hearts this year.
