When it comes down to PC vs. Console.

Looking at the Crysis 2 video's on console I don't see much improvement over the first Crysis. For the last 3-5 years Ive been getting tired of game devs using the same game engines. We finally might see PC excel to what its supposed to be."A generation ahead."

well its been almost 5 years since 360 release and they are just now hitting peak. not bad at all

not sure what this has to do with pc verse consoles. we all know the consoles hit their peak a while back, and pc is superior.

Of course there only so much you can do with consoles JOKE hardware that only has **cough**cough** 256MB of video memory and a 5 year old GPU.

I did mention game devs were using the same game engines for 3-5 years right? Cod4 compared to mw2 theres no real major improvement at all.

I'm tired of seeing the Unreal 3 Engine used in 60% of games.

Never said they were horrible looking games. Hardware is a JOKE, when u have two year old graphics card thatis more powerful than all the consoles combined in HISTORY that is a JOKE. And still won't be able to do Crysis Maxed out. So fail.

Xbox 360 games still do not look outdated. Pretty good for a console running a X1900.

Gears of War 2 uses the Unreal Engine so you can trash that one.

Killzone 2 took 4 years to make and Crysis was released 2 years before Killzone 2 was released....

Uncharted 2 looks alrigh. Not bad....But not the best.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the difference between top tier console games is going to be simply art direction, technically there's nothing more than can be really squeezed out of consoles, which is why visuals have stagnated so much. On PS3 and 360, there isn't going to be anything that surpasses UC2 without killing the framerate (I actually praise UC2 for those visuals and keep a stable framerate, same with KZ2).

Well first of all Crytek are a primary PC company that's dedicated to bringing the best possible graphics (and physics) to the people and obviously they will say something like that. The fact is that current consoles basically "reached their tech peak" when they were released. It now all comes down to how well devs manage to use that power. The key to make older graphics look good is by making games have better or unique art direction. Games that have a unique art stlye (like Okami, Wind Waker, ect.) do look nice even more years after release (if you look past the low res).

Graphics aren't everything though. What they need to do is make games that are fun to play. New consoles would probably just be a distraction from that goal.

Asoppposed to Halo's linear gameplay as opposed to Crysis/Crysis Warhead's vast environment and vastly open ended gameplay.

Oooh, i see many moderations from this thread. I love consoles because i dont know how to make a pc, buying one is too expensive and i dont have the money. And i really dont feel like taking the time to learn to build a rig, there are only a handfull of games id like to play on pc, its just not worth it. With consoles i can just come home, relax and just play. kipohippo021

Some PC gamers like to ignore what the rest of the world says and talk about how only PC's can have good graphics, so I wouldn't pay attention to anyone claiming Killzone 2 doesn't look good graphically when its pretty much in the top 10 of best graphics of all time right now.
