Shit, shit and shit.

Thread title should change. When was the last time MS had a GOOD new 1st party game.

I agree. I just answered his question. Their last good new IP? Probably Alan Wake, back in 2010.

Does MS own Remedy? I thought they just had an exclusive deal with them

Ryse isn't first party. MS doesn't own Crytek or the Ryse code! Crytek could announce tomorrow that Ryse 1.5 will be out on PS4 in June if they wanted! The XBOX ONE just like the 360 before it will rely on Kinect games made by RARE and 3rd parties to keep it afloat! I cant even tell you a big first party game coming to the Xbone in the next year outside of Halo 5 and Fable. Quantum Break is made by a third party developer! Sunset Overdrive is made by a third party developer! Titanfall is made by a third party developer!

It was just an exclusive deal. Alan Wake is on the PC as well and is not published by Microsoft. While they have had a lot of third party flops like Too Human, Blue Dragon and Ninety Nine Nights, there hasn't been anything new from the first party other than arcade games and kiddie games since the 2005 launch.

@fatooosh:

Victoria isn't making crap because they are shut down.

Lift London is a Smartphone & Tablet studio developing for Windows Phone and Surface. These games could make it to the X1 as well but don't expect a real game.

The better question is, when was the last time Sony had a fresh new IP (Not Last of Us Reskinned Uncharted) that didn't blow in terms of sales. Sure Microsoft hasn't made a lot of games but given the fact that many of the ones Sony has made have completely blown (Twisted Metal, Playstation All Stars, Sly 3, Beyond Two Souls, Starhawk) The list goes on and on maybe that's a smart decision for them.

do you people not understand what 1st party means? it means games from MS-owned studios.

1st party means Microsoft owns the games and publishes them. It doesn't matter who develops them.

That's second party. Gears of War, Ryse and Crimson dragon are all second party. Same thing with all of the Insomniac Playstation titles.

Or are you trying to argue that Resistance, Ratchet and Clank, Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, and Journey aren't Sony 1st party games? (Sony do NOT own Insomniac, Quantic Dream, or thatgamecompany)

Are you trying to argue that Super Smash Brothers is not a Nintendo first party game? (Nintendo do NOT own Hal Laboratory or Project Sora)

Anyway, even with your criteria of an MS owned studio, Lococycle counts, as Microsoft bought Twisted Pixel years ago.

Second party developer. Not sure how the lines are drawn between owned franchises (like Ratchet and Clank, which is owned by Sony and developed through Insomniac), but yes, anything Quantic Dream makes is not considered Sony first party. Almost positive MS does not own the rights to Crimson Dragon. Not sure about the Ryse IP.

Given a good response and you try to say OH NO THAT DOESN'T COUNT. So long as Microsoft either owns the IP or publishes it as an exclusive then it's a new IP for them, suck it up.

Read the thread title.

Also ironic you're complaining about people trying to remove stuff when you've just done the same a few posts above with TLoU not counting.

Look loser. I didn't say anything didn't count. I was pointing something out to someone who looked confused on the topic. Go be a wanker somewhere else.

For one how are Sly 3 and Twisted Metal new IPs? Beyond Two Souls has also sold pretty well, ~0.7m in 2 months, plus it probably had a tiny budget going off Heavy Rain so if anything it's probably a complete success.

Also why are you praising the company that's happy taking no risks? As a gamer i know i want new experiences and it's companies not taking a chance on new ideas that's given us an industry dominated by generic shooters. I love the more niche titles and it's a shame they're so scarce on the Xbox. It's not just that MS hasn't made a lot of games, it's that there's barely any. Their only decent first party title is probably Alan Wake.

Sony have brought LBP, Uncharted, TLoU, InFamous, Resistance and Motorstorm (first one was really good anyway) as solid selling and reviewed games and that's purely first party. Two of the titles in TLoU and Uncharted 2 are well renown as two of best games of the generation.

Why are you so hell-bent on making new first party IPs anyway when the last gen brutally showed more often than not they're not economically viable?
