Look at it this way ... The new 360 Elite retails for $470. The regular 360 is $400. If you keep your regular 360 and upgrade to the new hard drive it is going to run for around $180 bucks making a grand total of $580 you have spent. Plus if you want to add HD DVD that is $200 bucks! Where is the savings???? The PS3 has FREE online play, and a Blu Ray player for $500 - $600 bucks. Not a bad deal for a system that is only going to grow and get better. You better believe Sony will do what they have to in order to stay pace with 360 and Wii this year. I look for a price drop in the near future. It's just a fact ... 360 owners, you aren't really getting that great of a deal. JDW_gamesThis argument is older than god.

Why does it always have to be about HD DVD?
Do you know what people buy these machines for?Â
At this point, if you're looking for a high-def console with the best lineup of games, 360 is the way to go. And that's what matters to gamers.
The hardware value differentiation won't really come into play until blu-ray definitively wins the format war. And even then, the market may not be ready to adopt the new format. We'll see.Â

High Definition action packed Hollywood films?Woot! Another 360 pricing thread!
Lets add up all the features not needed to play games and give it a price. The more worthless items you can add the better.
Highest price wins!
Seriously, this is getting really old now.
Yeah it seems to me the DVD format still has some years left in it. I don't see the "jump" to next gen DVD formats happening immediatly. At this point, if you're looking for a high-def console with the best lineup of games, 360 is the way to go. And that's what matters to gamers.

360 fans just don't like hearing the TRUTH. The PS3 and Wii are the best systems and time will show the truth. I just find it funny that Microsoft fans think they are getting a good deal. JDW_gamesIt's not truth, it's opinion, and a very subjective opinion at that. I just find it funny that you think you are getting a good deal from ANY capalistic company. Sony nor Nintendo care about you, me, or any of the other little people. (Microsoft included)

OK, now lets say that I want a console with a harddrive of some size, don't care about online play, and don't give a crap about high def media? Lets say I already have a Wii, and am looking for a cheap way to get to the better graphics gaming. I can either get a 400$ 360 or I can get a 600$ PS3. I used to be able to get a 500$ PS3, but they scrapped that. So, assuming, this, which would be a better value for me?
I would think the 360, since it gives me what I need for 2/3 the price.

the 360 is a better value because HD movies ARE A COMPELTE RIP OFF & WASTE OF MONEY & AD NOTHING TO GAMES and trhe fact that NOONE O NTHIS DAMN PLANET EVEN HAS WI_FI IN THEIR HOMES YET. Â
In my view it's just way too early to get a PS3. Blu-ray is unproven, the games aren't "wow" yet and the console itself is just too expensive.
However, if people are willing to wait the PS3 will flourish just like the PS2 did about a year after launch with GT3, MGS2, FFX, GTAIII. Very similar scenario for the PS3.Â
why do cows assume that ever Lemming has XBL and needs/has a HDTV?that pisses me off.

-I dont have live

Did you happen to notice that A) the Hd-DVD attachment sells like crap, did you consider that people DON'T WANT to watch HD-DVDs and B) only 7% own an HDTV. There is no point in having an HD player if you can't enjoy the benefits! So take off that 200.
Point 2 I want to make is Why Do I need a 120Gb HDD? Most people only use the Hard drive for Gamesaves, and even if you want to download HD content, you can delete it when your done with it, and the next time you go to download it, it's free becuase you already paid. So the 20GB is fine.
So the 360 is still a better deal. Sure the PS3 has Free online play, but many people say it is largely inferior to XBL, and the service isn't unified, so developers are kind of there own when using PSN. and 50 bucks a year isn't that Bad for an online service that 6 million find to be worth the money.
Also, the PS3 controller Battery dies and cant be replaced, so If you have a 2 ocntroller set up, its gonna cost you 40 bucks a year just to keep controllers availible, the battery last 1 to 2 years. I'd rather pay for an online service then to replace controllers.
The PS3 lacks HD cablings, and a headset, and most improatantly, games. How long can you play resistance?

let me attack this point by point:
hd movies a complete rip off? then why are people buying them?
hd movies add nothing to gameplay? umm...perhaps because they are movies?
no one on the planet has wifi? yea...coffee shops offer free wifi now because it's so convenient...which planet do you inhabit?Â

Â
Ok so your saying if i have $600 to spend on a new gaming system, It is a better value for me to only get 1 system (ps3) and thats it. To me it would be a better value for me to spend $400 on the system (360) and get 3 games with it.Â
Â
So a gameing system (360) +3 games for the same price as the ps3 with no games is going to be a better value to me and a lot of people.
So, I'm wondering: do you actually play games on your PS3? Because I don't give a flip about Blu-Ray/HD DVD. For me, a $400 XBox 360 would be the better deal.Dr_CorndogWell, according to Sony the PS3 is considered a 'home entertainment system', not a game console. It seems more people who have a PS3 are worried about Blu-Ray rather then games ... I wonder why when I look at the PS3 library ...

-I keep hearing varied %s with HDTV. Today it's 7, yesterday it was 17. Worldwide is smaller % than US %.
-HD content is not free just because you paid once. I mean the exact content. If you download and pay for Saw 3, then you can download it again free.
-I take it you haven't played either one if you have to rely on hearsay? I 've played both, and OWN a 360 with 1 year gold live. M yopinion shouldn't be an argument, but General opinion is what most people think, so its a bit more valid.
