when will the ps3 compete graphically with the 360

I have a ps3 and I love it. IT makes a great blu rya player. But there's no game graphically better than what's on ps3

bad wave effects? lair as the best wave effects on any CONSOLE. how could gears have better draw distances? lair has enormous enviroments with no pop up form what i can tell. ontopic it already is competing and will start surpassing soon

Wow, you have no idea what you're talking about. The Cell helping out the GPU won't allow it to act as if it has any more memory. At all. Ghz and GBs are two completely different things.

Well, given time, PS3 games will look surpass what X360 has to offer, you can't look at graphics just by taking a look at a screenshot.

Graphics depend on how big a level is, what is going on, AI, this and that, physics, etc.  Of course, you can have one single room rendered with AMAZING graphics, but that is cramming the potential of a fair looking bigger map.  

 And when someone says X360 GPU > PS3 GPU, you do know that that is only for games that use certain technologies (nvidia vs ati)?  If we just switched it to a Nvidia specific game, the PS3 GPU would render something better than an ATi GPU.

Overall, we can't compare GPUs, nor graphics.  Programming is too different.  Hardware is different.  Games are different.

If there were a game for the PS3, that came out on the 360 a year later. If it didnt look better on the 360, I'd be dissapointed. Oblivion was in the works for the PS3 a year longer. Im glad it looks better on the PS3. Its had more time.

Ps3 is obviously not easy to program for, SO when they spend a whole lot of time with it, it will most likely get better. But who other than first party software will want to do that if the Ps3 don't start selling more.

Motorstorm is not a awful looking game, but it gets boring pretty quicky as do Resistance and it looks like Lair will be the same. There obviously is more of a learning curve involved with making for the PS3 than the 360.

Well the PS3's launch wasnt good at all. And the PS3 vs Xbox 360 is alot different than the PS2 vs Dreamcast. The 360 has better graphics so far. And better games. Developers are going Multiplatform because staying with the PS3 wouldnt be good for the game. Not dissing the PS3, because I will eventually get one when it goes down in price. But right now, it is getting beat by the 360 and the wii.

Better texture, better character models, greater destrucatable enviroments, as time goes on so will the list in where MGS4 passes Gears. Regardelss of which one looks better, thos graphics are a ten; no doubt about it. Those screens are alpha, just like Lair and they already crush the major competition on Ps3 and 360. I'm sorry, buts its not really a competition when games that are just alpha look just as good, or come very close to matching 360 graphical show piece. 

Maybe when Alan Wake comes out then this topic will be valid.
