I dont think now that we are going to see a huge mario platformer again till the next Nintendo console, but Im really curious as to what mario has left to do.....it seams Mario Galaxy was so new, was such a fantastic and fresh use of the franchise. How could anything else surpass the Mario galaxy formula?....i have no idea, but its going to be really hard!

What are ur ideas?

Super Mario Dimensions. Each level will offer different visual styles and slightly altered gameplay mechanics/physics. (there would be 8-bit world, 64 bit world, cell shaded world etc)

That would be incredible if that happened. I bet Nintendo EAD can pull of another incredible mario game if they did that.

I would suggest that Mario goes to some amusement park type area next like what Sega did with Sonic Colors, but not in space. The problem with my idea anyway is that I don't even know ifBowser can build an amusement park.

No! Never in a hundred years. Mario games are not built for the type of gameplaythat a FPS or a TPS requires. Sega learned that lesson hard with that Shadow the hedgehog.

I actually think that a Mario TPS would work okay, as long as they have a competent lock-on system and no cover mechanics. Off-Topic: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, not a bad show for what it is.

I think the Mario formula works with only platforming and that's what he is best at.

The Mario formula is platforming.

Anything else it's something different, like a Mario Kart formula or a Mario Party formula.

An FPS or TPS would be another new formula of a game that has Mario in it.

3 possibilities i can think of. 1) in the 3D platformers they have never really captured the mushroom kingdom well. all the 3d ones are lacking something that the 2d games had in this regard. the 3D games look.....to normal. its hard to pinpoint but M64 looked medieval, sunshine was a resort and the galaxies, which are bonkers, are not the mushroom kingdom. it would be kewl if they could capture the mushroom kingdom ala mario world....in 3D. 2) sort of the GTA idea.....a mario platformer that basically consists of one big level. now it wouldnt be a city and ti wouldnt be about killing and driving but one big area to explore with many ways to get to different stars and such like could be kewl. the closest we have seenis crackdown and that was a great game to just jump around and collect things in. i had much more fun doing that in the game than the actual missions. 3) in the 3D games they have also failed to capture the complete nonsensical bonkerness of the 2D marios....Mario 3 especially. even mario galaxy 1 and 2 make a bit too much sense.

Mario platformer with same story.. Peach getting kidnapped, however it is an actual better story!

Or Mario doing Princess Peach's plumbing while getting sucked into Bowser's world or something and he has to get out.

Galaxy is an amazing game and has very fresh and creative ideas, allowing for some awesome gameplay. That said, it wasnt my favorite. I really hope they go back to some sort of land. I hope they go back to a mushroom kingdom type area next time.

I really don't think hub worlds are important. No hub world has ever been so good that the game would be lacking without it.
