Better than the Wii. Thats what the folks at Gamesradar said.shane_orijaGamesradar? Really? :|

I guess to be fair its really devs who've been saying since March the "DS2" or 3DS was going to be roughly as powerful as GameCubeWhy do we just believe Capcom is telling the whole truth about those screens?darth-pyschosisNo reputable developer has ever said that the 3DS' graphical ability was "on par" with the Gamecube before the reveal. Miyamoto, however, has commented on how powerful the 3DS is in comparison to the Wii in a interview( http://ds.ign.com/articles/110/1104396p1.html)and said: [QUOTE="Miyamoto"] We're not really worried about it, and primarily it's because the types of things, the types of play that you can do on a portable device is pretty different from the types of things you're able to do on a home console, and so it doesn't really concern us. I guess from a graphical standpoint it is true that the shaders that we've implemented into the Nintendo 3DS hardware, from a certain perspective, it can appear as if the graphics are stronger, but they're really a little bit more in balance I think.
I'm not saying they are fake, bullshots, or whatever. But thats a bit generous to take the company's word when we've seen no gameplay videos (unless i'm missing them) and have little to no information on the title, i mean what is to stop the 3DS Resident Evil from going the way of Resident Evil on PSP or Devil May Cry PSP? (Have we heard anything about them?)darth-pyschosisWe have a trailer, multiple screenshots, interviews, and confirmation by Inafune himself. As well as details to investors. The only thing we had on RE PSP was a picture on a list. And DMC PSP had nothing.
Additionally does anyone remember the first few screenshots of Red Steel months before release? Had some nice lighting and other touchs. When I got the game the character models, among other things, didn't look as good as in those shots IMO.darth-pyschosisAnd this had anything to do with the 3DS? The great lighting/normal mapping/self-shadowing and such are supported natively by the PICA200 architecture. You either use them or you don't. No development resources are used either way. This is unlike the antiquated hardware of the Wii where actual effort and resources had to be used to get even Nominal lighting.
I'm just saying I'm not seeing anything Brawl or Super Mario Galaxy level in 3DS screens so far, that actually has motion involved you know, I'm not counting Mario Kart, MGS3 or anything but Kid Icarus since, well those other samples are very controlled by Nintendo and the developersdarth-pyschosisThis doesn't make much sense.
Nintendo is going to underpower this thing IMO. It is heading that way.darth-pyschosisHow? Why? The more powerful models are more energy efficient then the weaker models. What would they underpower? Polygons per second? Sure, but that's not what's impressive about the 3DS nor is it necessary. The shaders/effects, what's impressive about the 3DS, is part of the PICA200 GPU architecture. The only way they can underpower that is by changing the architecture to something else entirely
I can't imagine there will be multi-touch, though there should be. Nintendo would've said it, its not a hard thing to add, but its using a stylus so that kinda implies it won't be multi-touch. darth-pyschosisWhy should there be? Multi-touch is useless on gaming systems with, you know, buttons? Resistive screens, necessary for DS backwards compatibility and precision, can all(every single one) use multi-touch but they multi-touch on capacitive screens(what the 3DS cant use) is much more accurate and responsive.
Also, we will be lucky if this thing has more than 2GB of storage,darth-pyschosisWhy? Why would Nintendo say " 2 GB Max. at launch." if they had no plans on expanding the storage? Why can DS storage space grow several times but the 3DS' can't? Larger carts will certainly be produced later on. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- [QUOTE="osan0"][kid icarus for example looks like it would be right at home on the GC. Not really. Kid Icarus' clouds and skies look wonderful and would be impossible to accomplish on the Dreamcast. As well as the sense of scale. In motion, it looks closer to Panzer Dragoon Orta on the Xbox.

Well said :') Though the bottom quote was referring to the Game Cube not the Dreamcast ;) Though I agree with what you said non the less :P
DS games are hard to compare because they tend to use both screens in a different way with different graphics.
And 3DS games are even worse because they use 3D.
So uhm. They look good. That's it really.
this^^^ personally though I think some of the wild rumours about the 3DS being more powerful than Xbox 360 has naturally disappointed some overoptimistic people. Nintendo have never cared about top-level visuals. Slightly out-dated technology at affordable prices has been their strategy. so we get a PICA 2000 instead of a Tegra 2. Pricepoint & battery life are more important to Ninty than graphics. that said the 3DS seems to be pretty capable. I certainly want it to be on par with Gamecube but its no big deal if its more like a PS2.We really won't know until we see the games :|

Looks worse than PSP games. And quit bringing up the BS target render/footages/tech demos that are not in-game. runbleduckYou do know everything we saw at E3 was real-time, because they were playing it in the booths? The 3DS is above and beyond what the PSP can do.

definitely looks better than the wii, and its a little bit better than some of the 360 launch titles.
PAL360
I dont think it´s up to 360 launch titles!
But still pretty good. Probably at Xbox1 level!
perfect dark is still one of the best looking 360 games IMO, and yeah. anyone who says the 3DS is near 360 levels needs to get their eyes checked. From what im hearing its around Wii/Xbox 1 levels.

It´s textures are still amazing but it cant compete with current console games on other aspects like character models, physics, etc
