seriously though.

im not a lemming, sheep, cow, or hermit. I'm a gamer, and as such i only hope the best for all games and gaming platforms. ne thing that "furthers" the industry. i can like games on the ps3, wii, or 360 just fine

i do personally prefer the 360 right now (do to higher game selection), i still have MUCH hope for the ps3 and i rly want to get one soon (i was gonna get one earlier this august but unexpected fund shortages, aka an expensive gf, has delayed my plans). i like the wii too, but the least of the 3. but hopefully that will all change with manhunt 2. torture with the wiimote ftw! i actually view pc gaming as the best, but my comp sucks....

i dont want ne system or game to flop. and i cant see y ne1 would :|

Ignorance mostly. Sometimes arrogance. Refusal to accept change is another biggie. Mostly just not enough experience with a large variety in games.

It comes from young boys who are at a stage in their lives where they are seeking an identity. Whether it's being a "sheep," "cow," or "lemming," being able to identify themselves as such gives the a sense of security. It's the same reason that gangs are so popular with teenage boys.

Well put. I think that the worst fanboys are the ones with the least amount of time actually playing games, and the most time running their mouths.

Not true. I am not a fanboy and I cannot afford all or even most of the systems. Not only monetarily but time wise as well. Most fanboys are usually younger people, youths, who have not spent as much time playing a large variety of games throughout there life to discover what they truly like in gaming. They also like to "support" brand names because it makes them look "cool" among their friends... whether real or electronic.

I started gaming in 1992. I only discovered my truly favourite series, Metroid, last summer (played Super Metroid back in the day but was not experienced enough to fully appreciate it).

All you're going to get from this thread is "it comes from being stupid, huh huh huh," which I think is flaming and should be an offense, but hey.

Fanboyism comes from the existence of one thing you agree with, and other things you don't, and the instinct to pick sides accordingly.

The lack of funds to purchase another console and sheer ignorance. Add a dash of born stupidity, and there you have it.

Oh wow..i forgot to throw in the young people part.....

I agree with everything you said....usually in these kinds of posts I add something in about kids that cant get them all.....most adults/mature people are actaully bright enough to realize fanboyism is really really dumb, doesnt even make sense really....

18...

haha, why

Because almost every fanboy I have ever come across is under 20 years old (just like you). What does that mean? As much of a Cow you think you are, I'm predicting that in a year or two you'll grow out of the "fanboy" stage of your life. Like I said before, being a "fanboy" is very much linked with the fact that many teenagers are in stage of their life where they are seeking an identity. Same reason why many teenagers join gangs or like playing team sports. I also entered a fanboy stage in my life where I was a Sony fanboy or "cow" right around the time that the PS1 came out and it ended somewhere in the middle of the life of the PS2. From the years where I was 13-19 I was a diehard Sony fan, ready to argue on their behalf and what not. However right around the time I hit my 20's I realized that all these Gaming Brands are just companies who are only interested in one thing, and that's money. Worshipping a Playstation and the Sony label is about as stupid as worshipping my Toaster and the Oster namebrand. I know it's hard to take this serious, but I'm pretty sure that in the next year or two you'll slowly come to the same realization.

It is clearly not everyone's cup of tea. That is why it is a niche title. Most of the games in the entire series take a lot of patience, because the exploration and backtracking can discourage some people from playing on because it can be frustrating at times. Not everyone can and not everyone should like Metroid. I just hope that people can appreciate the fact that it is a highly rated and quality series that defines itself with providing a extremely well presented atmospheric experience.

No way, i think i know what it is

Metal Gear Solid changed my life...it defined a new part of who i was, and really just put Gaming inside of my personality, MGS was on the Playstation, MGS2, MGS3, MPO all on the Playstation, along with other fantastic titles that really put the gamer inside of me and made it ultimatley what i want to do when i grow up instead of Music...

I could write a huge ass essay on it, but what it boils down to is MGS made me a cow, and basically i dont think that will ever change, i will always like Sony/Konami over anything else

So what about MGS4 coming to the 360 then? :P

I used to be a cow too... one of the most hardcore ones on System Wars. MGS was my favourite series and Sony was my God. I started playing games from other systems and found out how much I liked them... I stopped being a cow and realised how stupid it was to support a brand name and not the actual games themselves.

You'll see in time. If I could, you will.

Trust me, you'll get over that. I WAS THE EXACT SAME WAY. Heck, it's funny you say that because Metal Gear Solid is one of my favorite games of all time. In fact, the majority of my favorite games of all time are Playstation 1 games (i.e. Castlevania: SOTN, MGS, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy 7). I also attribute the PS1 to making my hobby of videogames to something more. Heck, I went to college to be Game Programmer largely due to all the great times I had with my PS1 and it's great titles. This is why I WAS a Sony fanboy just like how you are now. Guess what? It still doesn't matter, Sony is just a big corporation and the playstation systems (like all other systems) are just hunks of plastic and metal. If Metal Gear Solid meant so much to you, I'm sure you'll still feel passion for the series as you mature, but I think the recipient of your idolization will change. You'll realize that it is the brilliant mind of Hideo Kojima that had such a lasting imprint on you, and not Sony Corp.

Darn... beaten by a technicality! *snaps fingers*

I'd say ignorant. They may seem stupid but they are only doing that because this is an impersonal environment, where you can be anyone you want to.
