Iconic? Nintendo by miles. Mario and Zelda remain entrenched in people's minds, even if they haven't played anything since NES.

that sony list is aweful. i don't see any as iconic. Kratos is probably the most popular of that batch but not in the league of nintendo's top characters. Master Chief is in that league though mario would still eclipse him.

heck mario is so iconic that items (coins, mushrooms, ? box) and music from his games are widely recognizable to everyone. how many games can you say that about?

I agree with this.

Nintendo wins this one no matter how you look at it. Mario is pretty much the face of gaming.

Mario alone can take on the entire gaming world. Alone. Add Samus and Link and Pikachu, along with their respective villains like Ganon(dorf) and Ridley, and Bowser, as well as other, second tier characters like Fox McCloud, and man, you got a list of characters, nobody, and I mean nobody, can ever hope to eclipse. And no, Kratos and Master Chief arent in the same league. And that Sony list is pitiful as far as iconic characters are concerned.

Well, Crash Bandicoot has been appearing on non-Sony systems since the beginning of last generation. Anyway, Nintendo. Microsoft probably has the worst. I don't really like any of their characters, unless you count Banjo & Kazooie.

Nintendo by miles. I don't think non gamers would recognize any of the other characters. Some of the Sony ones you listed aren't even iconic Sony characters. It's like you just picked somebody from a Sony exclusive. The only recognizable character MS has imo is Master Chief. Even then, I don't think non gamers would be able to identify him.

Yeah, they were, but I wasn't sure if they counted towards Microsoft since Rare is second party to them now.

You topic says "company", so you fail.

Nathan Drake as iconic... seriously, you fail. Hard.

And the slightest bit of doubt that it would be anyone OTHER than Nintendo... you fail again.

When you're posting pictures of exclusive 360 games published by companies which aren't microsoft in an effort to make a character 'not count' you have to ask yourself whether you're really being objective about this. The answer obviously being no. Not at all.

Nintendo wins hands down for iconic characters!

Although with Microsoft the master chief of Halo is pretty iconic. The Gran tourismo and Wipeout series are iconic (although character less) i dont really see Sony as having any 1st rate mascots as such.

now thats not so say they dont have some kick ass games and francises!

Yep. But even then, I'm not voting for him. The most iconic characters in videogaming are those created by Nintendo. Even my mother knows who Mario is but when I talk about Master Chief, Kratos or Nathan Drake, she'll stare at me as if I'd just spoken in Japanese.

Yeah. Sony's list pounds dust when compared to Nintendo or even Microsoft. Microsoft had Master Chief, which is almost as big a brand name as Harry Potter. They also might get another Master Chief in Marcus Fenix. Nintendo... need I even say anything? Link (which a lot of noobs know by the name of Zelda), Mario (WIN!), Pikachu, Samus. Then all the side characters like Luigi, Yoshi, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Fox McCloud, Ganon, Ridley.... Even the second tier characters, as you said, ar very iconic. Sony characters, with the possible exception of Ratchet, Clank and Kratos (and Crash, once upon a time), cannot hope to match up wioth even Banjo. :P (Not that Banjo is bad. I love Banjo games. Then Microsoft for Master Chief, All rares creations; Banjo and Kazooie, Conker and so on.

Then finally Sony, who's lost all there iconic characters and tbh there new ones like Drake and the dude from Resistence (forgot his name that's how good he is) are just..uh..rather average. Sackboy i suppose but hes not anywhere near Master Chief/Mario.

Totally agree. You'd be hard pressed to find people anywhere on earth who've never heard of Mario orPokemon. Doesn't get more iconic than that.

And most people in North America are familiar with Master Chief's appearance, except they'd probably call him "the Halo Guy'.

Sony, not so much. They've tried for an iconic mascot for years, so far, failure.

Gears is a 360 series. Otherwise, Gears would not be counted as 360 exclusives and Gears 2 would be a PC exclusive. And, Marcus is PUBLISHED by MS, but DEVELOPED by EPIC.

Nintendo by miles.

Banjo, Kazooie and Conker were all on the N64.

And now they're Microsoft owned.

But they were with Nintendo. Thats what matters. Even if MS buys Insomniac (ha), Ratchet will never truly be an MS character.

Definitely Nintendo. There's nothing even "iconic" about most of the characters you mentioned for Sony.
