Nintendo you can hum the Mario theme or Zelda theme and people know what it is (The Zelda theme not as much as the Mario theme) Then you factor in characters like Donkey Kong, Samus, Zelda, Mario, Luigi, Fox, Kirby, Pikachu, and Little Mac. Most of those names are recognizable. I didn't say Link because most people wouldn't know that unless they played the NES Zelda's because every Zelda since LTTP had your character called whatever you named him.
