[QUOTE="OreoMilkshake"]

[QUOTE="Riverwolf007"]but you need to buy a WM+ and as soon as you do the total you spent for one extra controller is $80 which is what i said in the 1st place...god i hate it when people try to be all tricky

Riverwolf007

No you only spend 60 so a 2nd person can play it. You still don't need the nunchuck to play.

who even lives like that? nobody that's who, when a person is at the store they are terrified that they won't get the right thing and the saleperson will use that terror to sell them the wiimote, the chuck, the wiiM+ and most likely a classic controller

you may know that and i may know that you can break them up and use different bit's and pieces but joe blow is going to pay $80 or maybe even $100 for one extra controller

people will look at the salesperson and say i want everything i need to play any game and you and i absolutely know 100% for sure what is going to happen

you can use semantics and say well this game needs this and this but not this all day but reality is reality

This is a stupid arguement. You act like you don't have to pay for the other consoles controlers.

360 plain controler is almost 40$

http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_constraint=0&ic=48_0&search_query=360+controller

sony controller is also 40 dollars

http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_constraint=0&ic=48_0&search_query=PS3+controller

they are expensive too.

Gaming in 2009 is really cheap compared to how much it used to cost. But the Wii is overpriced.

40 vs. 80 though?

i mean yeah sure the guy has a legit point that you can pick and choose your level of involvement but what i'm trying to get across is that people are going to get shafted on it by the retailers

edit: ummm and if i had another point it would be passing one controller is lame even if you can get away with it lol

Manufacturing Cost

  1. Wii
  2. 360
  3. PS3

Consumer Standpoint

  1. PS3
  2. 360
  3. Wii

Communistsheep

wii costs the most to make?

When it comes to manufacturing costs wii is the most overpriced because its the cheapest to build but sell for more then a 360.

When it comes from a consumer standpoint the PS3 is the most overpriced because well if it wasn't overpriced for a gaming machine its sales would be better.

You added the motion plus in. In that case, lets add the 100$ for Sonys wand and Microsofts Natal.

PS3. Want to know why? Sony has cut their production cost by 70%! 70% I say! Since this is the case, why does it still cost $400 bucks to get one? Shouldn't it be cheaper? I mean, seriously!

I'm torn between xbox360 and wii.

I'll have to go with the 360, though. Mostly because of the amazing failrate, it's worse than buying a used product.

The wii of course, it's like charging $75,000 for a Ford Focus.

Hell I can play GeOW2, Resident Evil 5, and Mass Effect for less than it would cost to play Red Steel. :P

Definitely Wii. PS3 is great value but still expensive, although not nearly overpriced for what you get. The xbox360 is priced pretty well too for what you get, elite may be a bit overpriced.

Wow your funny, Natal has its own games and is probably going to be 50 bucks(according to the people who made it). It can be used in some 360 games, but you can still play them with the regular controller.

Remember kids, there is a difference between expensive and overpriced.

-For example, x console has alot of fuetures that people find usefull for gaming and multimedia alike, but it is however very expensive, but people find it worth the money.

-But for example x console, doesn't offer alot and charges alot for it, while you could get the same experience for a much cheaper price, if not superior.

Now, my vote goes to the Wii, it gives me PS2 hardware really, to me it's a white ps2 with motion controls. and should be a 100 bucks cheaper.

Main Entry:

1archaic:value,worth

2 a:the quantity of one thing that is exchanged or demanded in barter or sale for anotherb:the amount of money given or set as consideration for the sale of a specified thing

These are the first two words in the dictionary concerning the definition of price. Now, with some simple math skills we can easily see that it is not possible to get everything you get with a PS3 at a lower price. Therefore, the PS3 has a price or value/worth that exceeds what it actually sells for. Overpriced would dictate that the product has a price that is higher than the actual value worth, which the PS3 obviously does not. Therefore the PS3 is not overpriced.

PS3 is overpriced because the library makes it seem like it's worth $100. The library just isn't strong.

You haven't listened to anything i said. When did i say anything about motion plus not being used in Wii games, that doesn't even make sense. I said that Natal is seperate, with its own games, but the 360 games you can use it on, you can still use the regular controller, but with motion plus there are games you cannot play without it. How hard is it to understand.

value

- a fair return or equivalent in goods, services, or money for something exchanged

worth

-having monetary or material value

youre mixing these two with cost. value and worth are judged by individuals, fair return can only be judged by the parties in the exchange. none of them have to do with what the cost of the product was when it was made, but what each party will try to get for the product now. if more people are willing to pay 250 for a wii then those willing to pay what ever for the ps3, the ps3 does not have a fair return for the exchanged money, or value in comparison.

you got over priced correct but are useing it in the wrong context if you are useing it outside of your specific view, in general the ps3s value and worth is seen to be less then its asking price.

you got over priced correct but are useing it in the wrong context if you are useing it outside of your specific view, in general the ps3s value and worth is seen to be less then its asking price.

Only from a subjective standpoint can it be argued the PS3 is overpriced.

Then the discussion is as fruitless as a thread titled: "What is your favoite color?" Subjectively the discussion can have no conclusion, it is then just an exchange of personal value systems. Then the real point is lost is some transition of priority where personal feelings supersede objective facts.

Some people enter the market having just bought a HDTV and they see the PS3 as underpriced as it fits more of their needs for a lower price than any other alternative, they could make a valid point about how they felt the PS3 is underpriced, but they would not necessarily be objectively right on that premise alone.

According to market value for all the separate features the PS3 has, it's value and worth exceeds it's price. The objective value of the inherent features cannot be disputed. Just because the system is not currently dominating sales does mean it is overpriced, Sony has as low of a price as it is reasonable for them. The fact that cost to produce was higher than the price also dictates the PS3 has a value that exceeds it's price. Market share does not dictate value or price either, at least not alone. The 360 is barely selling better than than the PS3 since release, especially in relation the the market leader Wii. So then according to the market share and feelings logic only the Wii is adequately priced. Which, I must agree to disagree for above said reasons.

Indubitably. Anyway I say that the Wii is far too much money. Not to mention the accessory cost (it's not a part of the overall price I know). I refuse to buy a second controller.

IMO none of the consoles are overpriced. We are lucky the consoles are so low. They could easily be a lot higher.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/price

Shhadow_Viper

value

- a fair return or equivalent in goods, services, or money for something exchanged

worth

-having monetary or material value

youre mixing these two with cost. value and worth are judged by individuals, fair return can only be judged by the parties in the exchange. none of them have to do with what the cost of the product was when it was made, but what each party will try to get for the product now. if more people are willing to pay 250 for a wii then those willing to pay what ever for the ps3, the ps3 does not have a fair return for the exchanged money, or value.

you got over priced correct but are useing it in the wrong context if you are useing it outside of your specific view, in general the ps3s value and worth is seen to be less then its asking price.

Which, I must agree to disagree for above said reasons.

i did not say it was over priced i said "in general the ps3s value and worth is seen to be less then its asking price." unless youre talking about my post that its the only console over the price i am willing to pay, if that is the case its. its value compared to its price as seen by the average consumer of video game consoles is seen as the worst. it maybe because most of those consumers dont care for all of the separate features, or it could be just to much for the kind of product it is. it would seem that the movie buffs and gamers dont mix as much as the ps2 lead sony to believe. an all in one products value only works if all or most of the "in one" features are wanted by the same target market or its a negligible increase in price (see xbox,ps2)

Gaming in 2009 is really cheap compared to how much it used to cost. But the Wii is overpriced.

Riverwolf007

heh we are all kinda crying about stuff but yeah you are right..my parents paid $50 each for atari carts lol

Yup, it really makes me mad when people say $60 for a game is expensive. People payed $50 in 1977 ($175 in today money) for a game that would give you maybe 30 mins of play before you either beat it or saw everything the game has to offer. Now people complain $60 is to much for a 15-20 hour game that also has multiplayer that you can sink 100s of hourse into.

personally i think the PSP Go will be overpriced... it has the same functions as previous models just a different design... Personally having a PSP2000 i see no reason to upgrade to PSP Go for that ridiculous price..

Wii.

It's what, SLIGHTLY Upgraded 8-Year Old Hardware for $250?

You could've gotten a Gamecube for $100 (Along with SSBM) around 2004.

Among the examples, Wii. $300 for one game? I don't think so. Try again, Nintendo. But in general I'd say probably something old like Commodore 64 or NES. Why does mere rarity make people willing to pay more for things?

wii, $80 just for a controller is kinda crazy too

Riverwolf007

Where do you buy your controllers?

wimote $40, chuck $20, wii motion plus $20

Our wiimotes alone in the UK cost £32 roughly $50
