[QUOTE="Tjeremiah1988"]how can someone say the 360 is the best when it has a ridiculous failure rate? The 360 is 360 miles away from the BEST console this gen. boredy-Mcbored
Because you look at, I dunno, the games???
to bad this thread isnt about the GAMES alone :| . As an overall product of the 360, it is FAR from the BEST this GEN.[QUOTE="Tjeremiah1988"]how can someone say the 360 is the best when it has a ridiculous failure rate? The 360 is 360 miles away from the BEST console this gen. Messiahbolical-
The better questions is how can someone support the 360 PERIOD with that ridiculous failure rate? I don't know about the lemmings on here who obviously aren't in their right mind, but if I was a 360 owner I'd be pretty damn embarassed right now of the company I'm supporting. You have a better chance of your console just breaking for no reason than working. That's beyond pathetic and it reeks of FAIL on so many levels that it's not even funny... it's just sad.
How can someone DEFEND a company that sells people a product for full price that's guaranteed to break eventually for no reason at all? It's not like they recalled it either, they just extended the warranty so they had an excuse NOT to recall it.
But you know what? You want to know what the problem with extending the warranty on the RROD is? The problem is that the RROD should ALWAYS be covered, repaired, replaced, or reimbursed no matter what. Why? Because it SHOULDN'T HAPPEN IN THE FIRST PLACE. There's no reason for the RROD to exist. You can take perfect care of your console and it just breaks for some unknown reason. It's not your fault. So it should be covered no matter when you bought it.
RROD is a prime example of Microsoft's immense fail of this generation(Just like Vista, which is also made of fail) and TBH I probably should have never put the 360 on this poll anyways because it's such a peice of garbage that it better deserves to be in a "worst consoles of all time" poll than this. Now don't get me wrong, it has great games. It has an amazing library of games... but the console itself is just trash. It's just a shame that that game library couldn't have been on a better and more deserving system.
So, I gathered from that wall of text that you're a new Sony supporter. This is the first gen where Sony got it right, kinda. I mean PS3's fail, also, but not as much. The first 2 Playstations had their fair share of well known, widespread problems. I was certainly embarrassed at the amount of PS2's I had to get, but I stuck with it, because it had great games. Same thing with the 360. So, in reality, you should watch what you say, because Sony is far from innocent. It's funny you ask how people can defend MS, when you're defending a company, that had to get sued before they ever admitted there was a problem with the PS2. Even then, they didn't refund anyone's money, or extend the warranty. At least MS handled the issue respectfully. Besides, the problem that was cause RROD has been fixed. It's fanboys that keep the RROD issue alive.MortalDecay
This is the first gen I've ever supported Sony... I actually opposed them the past 2 gens. The problem with your post is that you're bashing Sony for having hardware problems last gen even though I didn't support them last gen but at the same time you're just trying to change the subject and make the RROD seem like it's not all that bad.
Here's a fact: The 360 is the console with the most hardware problems EVER. If it isn't the RROD it's the E74(where's your warranty extension on that), disc drive failures, overheating, video failures, disc scratching while playing the game, freezing, random errors.... They're all over the place. How can you sit here and try to defend that?
The PS2 was an extremely fragile console and had a piece of garbage laser in it's DVD drive that had errors all the time, but the amount of fail that the 360 hardware has is on EPIC SCALES. It breaks for no reason. I've seen people get RROD right out of the box which is the most pathetic thing I've ever heard of. There's no excuse for that. There's no excuse for 54%+ "failure rate".
Obviously "the problem that caused RROD"(that "problem" could have been avoided if Microsoft didn't rush out and make a console without testing it just to get a head start) it hasn't been fixed because people all over youtube have videos of their RROD with their brand new Jasper Chip 360. Not to mention the E74 and video failures which aren't covered under the RROD 3 year warranty(even though they shouldn't exist).

I am not bashing any one company. Nor, am I saying that any of these problems are ok, because they're not. You seem to think that since RROD is more widespread, Sony's problems were nonexistent compaired. I can tell you, though, that the 9 PS2s I went through, sometimes I wonder. There is no reason for Sony, or MS to release a console with so many problems. But, just because I don't dwell on them, and instead, choose to enjoy the games I play, doesn't mean I am defending MS. I just choose not to get worked up over the matter. As far as RROD not being fixed, I can see why you don't think so, because it seems you don't understand what RROD is. RROD means "general hardware failure". It's like the "check engine" light in your care. It's not tied to one single problem, it just tells you there is a problem. The issue that cause the massive amounts of RRODs was overheating. The Jasper units have cooler running CPUs, and GPUs. It's almost impossible for the 360 to overheat now, no matter how you try to spin it. My 360 doesn't get anywhere near hot, and I have a Falcon model. So, being that RROD is a general indicator of there being some type of problem, it's still going to pop up when something is wrong. Just because they fixed the major problem, doesn't mean the 360 is fail proof. There is no such thing in electronics. It just means that the 360 failure rate is pretty much down to normal, now. And, I cannot believe there are still people that believe that GI article that said the 360's fail rate is 54%. That's been proven false so many times now. The only people that still use that number are fanboys. Also, the 3 year warranty was extended to include E74 errors...I guess you didn't get that memo. I have never had any of the other problems you listed. I take very good care of my stuff. I don't move my console with a disc in it, which is where most of the scratched disc come from. Hell, I don't move it at all. That doesn't mean they don't exist, but I do wonder about some of those. Maybe if people would take better care of their stuff, and stop blaming MS for everything, some of those issues might not exist. But, since the overheating issue was MS's fault, it's easier to blame them for everything else. Anyways, keep hating all you want. I can sit here and hate with you, because the problems with the 360 should never have happened. There's no excuse for it. But, I choose to just enjoy my games. Maybe you should to, since none of this even applies to you, anyways, unless you're the type that's not happy unless they're complaining about something.I think its the PS3 cuz its overall a better console, still probably more reliable (we will see how the slim & jasper chips work out), nice exclusives, free online, better value, more features. But the X360 does have better online, nice exclusives too, tough less then PS3 i think and more people on. But the PS3 is still better in my book.

SNES, N64, Gamecube, PS3... I like the 360's games and wanted to buy one at one point in time but Microsoft just bugs me this gen. I don't like supporting products that are shipped out the door with loads of problems, like Vista(still running XP) and 360. I don't want to have to pay for XBL when PSN is free. It just bugs me because it's all Microsoft's fault but it didn't have to be, it was their choice. It was their choice to ship the 360 with the obvious lack of testing to find all those hardware problems. It was their choice to ship Vista with all the problems it had. It was their choice to charge $50 a year to play games like COD4 online even though the online portions of those games are identical on free PSN and on the very disc you payed full price for. That stuff just bugs me. And it bugs me that people support it. Not because I care about their money but because it promotes laziness in other companies. If other companies see Microsoft getting away with this stuff, they'll try to get away with it too. And that's why this stuff annoys me.wii in sales
the rest is opinion
even if the wii wins in exclusives too, its still a matter of opinion if you like them or not

I have had to send my 360 in for DVD drive issues, but that's it. At least the times I had to send my 360 in, I've gotten free stuff, like a wireless controller, games, etc. They're happy to do that for you, if you ask. I used Vista before I got the Windows 7 beta. Vista runs sweet on my lap top. I haven't had any problems with it, but I know people who have. If one wants a 360, but they've been afraid of the problems, now is the time to get one. There's that small chance it'll fail, but you have that risk with any electronic device. Trust me, MS is not getting away with shipping a crappy product. They have spent billions on this issue, and I am sure they learned their lesson. At least they admitted it, and set back money to take care of it.Exclusives - PS3, 360
