Which console system will have longer life span...PS3, Xbox 360 or Wii

The Xbox 360 is my favorite system out there, don't get me wrong, but the PS3 will be "on shelves" a lot longer than the 360 or Wii...

With the Wii - it's about to get blown away in two years or so by the next Nintendo handheld. It will have games, certainly, but with Nintendo making money on hardware, I see them being keen to get the next Gameboy on the market.

Xbox 360...how long will Microsoft sit before they want to launch a new console? It'll be cheaper for them to jump to their next platform than it will be for Sony...

Sony is locked into the PS3, like it or not they're in it for the long haul, trying to recoup costs and such. They aren't going to have an easy time getting on PS4 development, especially if the PS3 bleeds money.

Judging from what we know about the companies, I would say Sony, but also sales come into the mix.

It's a tough call...I guess Sony, since they came out sooner, and the tech powering the system will get easier over time, and I am sure M$ will roll out the next Xbox sooner rather than later.

The ps3, because games will still be coming out for it long after the ps4 comes out. Hell, look at the ps2. Rogue Galaxy just came out, and God of War 2 and Manhunt 2 are on the way. Conversely, M$ and Nintendo have completely abandoned the Xbox and Gamecube.makingmusic476

At the rate that Sony systems and Xbox systems have lifespans... the Xbox 360 and PS2 will both die in 2010. PS3 will die out in 2016... and I'm not sure when the Wii would die... but between the two others.rabbidcrazy

again, why do you think GC and Xbox pulled out of the last gen race so early??? You know why..... because they failed. Samething will happen to the PS3 if it fails, it will pull out of the race.

Sony stated that all their systems are supposed to have 10 year lifespans.

PS1: 1995 - 2005 (last game was Madden 2005 for it)
PS2: 2000 - (2010?)
PSP: 2005 - (2015?)
PS3: 2006 - (2016?)

We've seen it with PS1... PS2 is on track... so I dont see why not.

PS3 will last a minimum of 10 years. Sony might not always live up to the hype but once they launch a system they do support it for a long time. you will see a new Playstation in about 5 or 6 years though.

Xbox360 and the Wii will both be around for about 5 years or more although depending you might only see the Xbox360 for 4 years if they keep the current trend.
