Yes, yes, we know. While some just seem to be figuring this out, Final Fantasy XIII is coming to the Xbox 360 *and* the PC. Square Enix announced this way back at its E3 press conference. Probably going lost in the jaw-dropping Xbox 360 announcement. To review, here's how the FFXIII development cycle is going down: First do the PS3 version, then the PC version and then the Xbox 360 version. And hey, there's been Final Fantasy games on the PC game before, so this isn't exactly something out of left field. In case you missed it, here's our liveblog of Square Enix's E3 presser. In it, I liveblogged: "kitase says they're currently running it on a pc, so they don't know the work load of getting it on the 360. they are putting priority on the PC version." Also, here's a link to a post on the Nvidia site about the PC version.
Update: We contacted Square Enix, and according to the company, "The game is being built using PC-based development tools, but that doesn't mean it's being created for the PC platform. Our current plans are to release FFXIII for the PS3 and Xbox 360 only. Sorry for the confusion!" So to recap, it's being created with PC-based dev tools, but with plans only for PS3/Xbox 360 console release.
I know is not coming out for PC,but the tools are PC-based development tools, like i said neither console is the lead platform.MojondeVACA
In the beginning Crystal Tools was a engine that wass built for soley just PS3 games. Only recently did they get the engine running on other platforms. All of Squares games since a while have been used developing from the PC, but were opitimized for one console in the past. Why else do you think Square's games looked so good and the cutscenes transitioned from FMV to gameplay were so flawless? (FF VII and (VIII I think) were the better versions on the consoles)
Crystal Tools becoming a multiplat engine doesn;t mean anything, but they have already said that the engine was optimized for the PS3. They already stated that they have to change the engine to fit the specss of the 360 (which could cause delays) and their will be slight differences giving the PS3 the upper hand.
The PS3 is also the lead platform. Its the most they are spending the time with and have the most exprience with (since 2005 I believe). The game is also exlcusive for Japan. They could care less about the 360 version as of now.
Achievements, among other minor reasons.elektrixxx
You know sqaure said they want to keep the 2 version EXACTLY the same in content. So either 1 of these 2 things will happen. They wont put achievements or they would add trophies negating your achievement reason. I'm getting it for PS3 either way.
ps3 because the 360 version is merely a port.
they haven't even started working on it yet, and it's supposed to realease next year and NOT be a port?? right..

you can't NOT have achievements...
