IM kind of surprised most of the games I have played are from Japan...and so little from US. More in the UK actually.
I said Japan.
For the poll the TC should've said North America, Europe, and Japan cause it would save space on the poll and then the people voting can list the country they picked.
Japan has produced some impressive games, but they're just not my style. I'm going to have to vote for the U.S.
The country doesn't matter all that much to me as long as the games are coming out in the USA. I tend to play more US and Japan style games, but I'm not shy about playing U.K. or Canada titles as well. If the game is fun and I can play with friends, I'll usually check it out.
Japan throws some major awesome games at us (as Atlus has been showing us)
but Bioware is single handedly winning over canada imo. Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins just won me over in every way
Ireland.
loads of games are made off the havok engine.
mirriorman
i believe havok is only for physics. almost every game utilizes it. same goes for the bink video engine from RAD tools.
You're bound to upset a lot of scots, welsh and northern irish with those choices. They don't like being called English, I wouldn't like to be called Scottish either.
As for the best overall, it used to be Japan, but they're seriously on the wane this gen. Even the big boys, like capcom, aren't making the same impact. Resi 5 wasn't exactly pretty or next gen. I don't think they can hold themselves up against the U.S. for example. In volume, maybe, but in quality, not so much. Too many quirky niche titles that don't translate.
My favourite company right now is Bioware, by far. In terms of West vs East,West wins all the time for me. In terms of which western country in particular, I can't answer. There are too many gems from a lot of countries. Even Poland has a fantastic game in The Witcher. I don't think I can choose. I'll say this, in terms of population, Canada is punching way above its weight.

tomato, pineapple in case :PNot really sure how to answer.
USA and Japan have most definitley made the most games I've enjoyed in my life.
But Britain has several of my favourite games/series. Rollercoaster Tycoon, GTA, Total War, Perfect Dark/Goldeneye, Dungeon Keeper, Burnout, Colin Mcrae and more recently Motorstorm.
I guess for me it goes:
Japan and USA: Quanitity
Britain: Quality
@Hahadouken;
"the polls don't match up with the text"
?
Anyway, I added NHL 09. If I'm missing stuff "like" it don't hold out on me! :P
Also, Australia was a joke.
[QUOTE="WAIW"][QUOTE="MattDistillery"]I used England/UK interchangeably, I actually thought all of those developers were in England anyway. My bad I'll edit in CanadaYou're still neglecting the Bioshock Issue. hint: 2K Marin DID NOT MAKE Bioshock 1. They jsut ported the PS3 version.Well first of Rockstar North Isn't in England it's in Scotland, I think you meant to say UK in the poll not England.
Secondly Bioshock is a debatable Australia instead of America.
Thirdy, Why no Canada Mass Effect, Assasins Creed, Fifa(Is this 9+?) etc.
Apart from that im going to say America but not by much.
RABicle
Put it under Australia
Why would you put Australia instead of Canada? :|Messiahbolical-Because we rock, who cares if the TC is still angry about that ice hockey game. oh and yeah one day all your videogames will have Aussie voice actors!

People are going to laugh at that mate but the amount of actors doing the rounds in Hollywood at the moment from Ozzieland is outstanding. They've all had a stint in Neighbours too which makes it all the more funny. I mean, the next Robin Hood film is going to be a New Zealand Robin and an Aussie Maid Marian. We're one of the thesp capitals of the world and you guys are stealing our thunder!

I wouldn't be so bitter if it weren't Sidney Crosby to make that last goal >.>
most of my games come from north america.
im suprised at the lack of smack talk in this thread. usually threads like this go off topic very quickly and hardly ever end well lol.
we Canadians are not Americans[QUOTE="funsohng"][QUOTE="DarkLink77"] I think US/Canada is more appropriate because it might as well be the same, considering the types of games they make.DarkLink77
I didn't say you were. I think grouping Europe together is a great idea, too, because it makes it easier.
I'm doing it based on geography, which influences what types of games are made. Western developers make western games, but there's a difference in the mindset of NA studios and European studios, and that has to be taken into account. I was not trying to do it by nationality and I'm certainly not trying to offend anyone, especially my northern neighbors. Looking back, that was an extremely poorly worded post. Would North America make you feel better?
Meh I don't see what the big deal is. When you look right down to it, it is North America, so in a sense Canadians are Americans.
The only thing that makes such a view complicated and that is said of South America as well, is that the people in the United States refer themselves as Americans, when every other part of both continents has a specific name to distinguish themselves, but in reality they should hold the exact same title. It's simply complicated when you have a nation that's named United States... what kind of diminutive name could you create out of that? One that wasn't extremely lame to begin with XD.
