Nintendo wins. Although there's some good ones out there. Rockstar and bethesda come to mind. They just need to keep it up for 30+ years.

This thread is a glorious example of goalpost shifting, holy shit.
actually it's a great example of people not understanding a question.
You shifted the goal posts 4, maybe 5 times in your last post alone.
Your topic asks a broad, yet simple question. You keep adding stipulations to it. Timeframe, sales, new IPs, graphics, system sellers, personal preference.. and when one of these ends up stacked against you, you simply move on to the next.
You're not debating or making good discussion, you're scraping the barrel for a means to support your bias. Which is fine, that's pretty much how SW rolls, but don't try to act like we just don't get it lol.
SquareEnix.
For a long stretch of time they would have actually been my pick. Sad times.
Naughty Dog probably for me... I've loved their games since I was a kid. Also Nintendo... but I'm really not sure tho... do they count as a publisher or dev?? I'm not sure who makes half their games lol. Like the Other M? Ninja Theory? I cant remember.

I know right. :( If only 7th gen never happened.
In my humble opinion it has to be Bioware. They have been around a long time and continued to make awesome games.
because you prefaced it with "my humble opinion" I respect that
thank you :)
@wolverine4262: Facepalming Harmonix? They created Guitar Hero (first two before it became milked to death), Rock Band and their ridiculous songlist that rivals iTunes, and Dance Central. All of them are excellent music games, a type of genre they specializes in.

Yeah, thanks champ. To be fair, you have to know freedom to get his jokes.

Nah, come on. Rhythm dev, Harmonix, Track record, it's too good to pass up. I'm honestly mad it wasn't the first post.
Metacritic "Average 30" scores. Take it for what it is...
My personal list:
*Note: All Nintendo developers aside from Retro are grouped under the one banner. If I had more time, I'd pull out all the major firsty party developers for Sony/MS/Nintendo. I also can't find "Sony" in the games section.
BioWare had a god tier track record before DAII, I mean, look at this:
Baldur's Gate = 91 in Metacritic
Baldur's Gate 2 = 95 in Metacritic, also the best WRPG ever.
Neverwinter NIghts = 91 in Metacritic
Star Wars KOTOR = 94 in Metacritic, also GOTY 2003.
Jade Empire = 89 in Metacritic
Mass Effect = 91 in Metacritic
Dragon Age Origins = 91 in Metacritic
Mass Effect 2 = 96 in Metacritic, also GOTY 2010.
Dragon Age II = 79 in Metacritic
Star Wars TOR = 85 in Metacritic
Mass Effect 3 = 93 in Metacritic
Luckily, they will redeem themselves this year with 2014 GOTY, Dragon Age: Inquisition.
Nintendo and Naughty Dog are the obvious answers but Ubisoft have had some crackers as well. Prince of Persia Sands of Time,Rayman Legends,Assassins Creed 2,Far Cry 3 and a few others not mentioned.
I would have said Bungie but that was before Density. :P
I suppose R* Turn 10 has been masterful as well.
Turn 10 has one good franchise which they crank out on a near yearly basis with barely any changes. They're Microsoft's Polyphony, only Forza isn't nearly as pretty as Gran Turismo.
I'm going with Rockstar, Insomniac (borderline...), Sid Meier, Naughty Dog, Sony Santa Monica, Valve, and Nintendo.
Firstly, T10 going into their third gen launching with a AAAE making them 4 AAAE's and a AAE that really should have been a 9.5 FM4. Read the topic question again since if that's not a great TRACK record then I don't know what is. Secondly . Lawl at them being Poly, Sony and Poly I'm sure wish that were the case but nope, not even close.
Nintendo. Someone make a list. Just thinking about this brings things into perspective. No developers come close.
Valve. They making best games and games that people keeps playing? Nintendo? Um nope. They have many bad games too or games that nobody is playing.
Naughty Dog

exactly
Tim Schafer. I'd say naughty dog and bethesda are up there too. Valve is really good too but not my taste of games overly. Everyone else has sold out in some form or another. Even bethesda has in ways. Tim Schafer has stuck to his roots imo and managed to stay relevant while not being a greedy pig.

Day Of Defeat, Condition Zero , Alien Swarm are bad games too.
Every developer makes bad games.
1)Alien Swarm is free game, not paid game. It is a remake of the Alien Swarm mod for Unreal Tournament 2004, and it was developed by the original team, who were hired by Valve during the course of the development process.
Valve did not create this game, they hired original game developers to support them and give people play free game.
2)Valve never created Condition Zero. It was made by Ritual Entertainment, Gearbox Software, Turtle Rock Studios
3)Day Of Defeat got 8.1 by gamespot

1) Alien Swarm is a free game but a bad one nonetheless.Valve had hired the team who made the mod and that is why I think the game represents Valve as a studio.
2) Point taken
3) Uncharted 3 got 9/10 from Gamespot, Jak II got 8.8/10, Jak 3 got 8.6/10 but that didn't stop you from calling them bad games.
EDIT:Quoted twice.

It's still the same freakin' franchise. Give me a little bit of diversity and I'll have more respect for them as a development studio.

1)People rated 8.2 out of 10 gamespot. Free game, so you can´t say bad because its FREE. Also, just because they hired team does not mean Valve created it. Valve has their own team who create games. So...
3)Day of Defeat was rated higher than Last of Us. So Day of Defeat is good game.
Valve gives support, free DLC but ND not. This alone proves Valve better record.
Nintendo puts out like a dozen games per year. The quality they maintain with that kind of output is pretty astounding.

1) User ratings aren't reliable and yes, when Valve hired the original team, they became one of Valve's many game development teams, and hence their work represents Valve as a game development studio. Its a free game but its bad
3)DoD was rated higher than Last of Us so that makes it a good game ?.I don't understand the logic behind this. The Jak Games,Uncharted 3 , Crash Team Racing were rated higher than The Last Of Us and yet those are bad games according to you
The fact that you are using Last Of Us as an index to measure good games proves ND is better. Not to mention most awarded game ever.
Also, ND does give free DLC

obvious answer is Bethesda Game Studios..
Sid Meier?
No. A million times no.
They completely abandoned their last game XCOM: Enemy Within. It was unplayably broken and has not received any patches to this day. Inexcusable for a game released Nov 2012. Ironman mode which had become the cornerstone of many XCOM fanatics' playthroughs became nigh impossible because of corrupted saves.
Pretty shitty for a company (Firaxis) that really only owns 2 major IP's (Civ and XCOM).
I gotta go with the big dogs.
1) Nintendo
2) Blizzard
3) and even though they're now defunct LucasArts was the shit back in the day. Unlike the man George Lucas who is just plain shit and should be kept far, far away (see what I did there) from the SW franchise. I want to live in a bubble where the prequel trilogy never happened and ep 7 will be awesome.
Since gaming started...Activision, Blizzard, Valve, or Nintendo. If I had to pick only one probably Nintendo.
