Which game for GOTY 2011

So we've had all the big games for 2011 (Unless anyone slipped my mind). Which game in your opinion deserves GOTY. What were your top 5 games this year and what in your opinion was the worst big release this year. For me it's still Deus Ex Human Revolution, it simply was in a class all it's own when compared to the other big games this year. My top 5 games this year would be:

Deus Ex Human Revolution
Skyrim
Skyward Sword
Witcher 2
Xenoblade Chronicles

Honorable mention for Assassins Creed Revelations. I've actively hated the AC series after playing the first game and loathing it but after deciding to give the series another shot with Revelations im certainly glad i did.

My worst big release this year would have to be a tie between Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3, extremely dissapointed with both games.

Skyrim will probably win but mine is either Skyward Sword or maybe upcoming Mario Kart 7. Runners up would be

Dead Space 2

Dark Souls

Batman Arkham City

No Batman AC in the list? Why?

For me, It's between Skyward sword and Tides of Destiny.

Don't care what gamespot slects but for me.

Skyrim followed by Deus Ex.

Skyrim is my GotY.

Since this year has been so great, I need a top 10.

I could easily interchange Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom, Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition, Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary, Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten, Deus Ex Human Revolution, RAGE, Super Mario 3D Land, Skyward Sword and Assassin's Creed Revelations with any of those. I have those games, but I haven't gotten around to playing them yet, so they could potentially be better in my opinion when I get around to playing them.

I still haven't bought Dark Souls, Dead Space 2, Xenoblade, LittleBigPlanet 2, Killzone 3, Rayman Origins, Dark Souls, LA Noir and quite a few others, so who knows, those could have been in there as well.

All I gotta say is god damn, 2011 was a great year for games.

Defs Skyrim for me.

Best RPG I have ever played.

Gamespots GOTY : Gears or Dark Souls.

For me: F.E.A.R. 3.

Was alot of good games this year, I also liked Batman, Deus Ex HR and Serious Sam 3 alot.

For me so far, To the Moon. I took a break from Skyrim to play it and it blew me away.. I haven't gone back to Skyrim either. I'm not sure why, they're completely different games but To the Moon hooked me from the beginning while I felt I was forcing myself to play Skyrim. I've played FIFA 12 the most so far, and will play it the most until FIFA 13 is released, but they're always just fantastic games that won't be my GotY.

Gears 3 was good, but not GotY worthy. But I haven't played my copy of Skyward Sword yet; waiting for a week with absolutely nothing to do so I can devote myself to it. It's the only other possible game I can realistically see taking GotY for me, and I think it has a very good chance.. But To the Moon is fantastic.

that would probably be my letdown of the year. so mediocre and unpolished.

my GOTY goes to skyrim, portal 2 or arkham city.

My GOTY is between these three

-Batman Arkham City

-Rayman Origins

-The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

All three are fantastically designed and near perfect. If I had to pick one though, it would be Rayman Origins at this point. I think it is quite literally flawless and possibly the best 2D platformer ever made (sorry Yoshi's Island).

The games that stood out from the rest this year where Zelda SS and Portal 2. I give an honorable mention to Pkmn B/W.

I pick Zelda solely because of the new controls (WM+). To me, It's the modern equivalent of the important and revolutionizing auto-jump or lock-on mechanics. It's the next step in gaming and SS proved that the Wiimote+nunchuck is the evolution of controls for some genres. Wii Sports Resort originally introduces us to the new gameplay elements a gyro sensor could provide, but Zelda is the first game that thoroughly makes use of their applications. They have to keep this scheme for the next Zelda on Wii U.

I haven't played anything this year that i'd give it to yet.

The games I haven't played that I think could take it are pretty much just Rayman Origins and Batman Arkham City. Maybe Gears of War 3 too but i'm not sure yet.

I might say the ICO collection because i've never played the games before, if they count. :P

For me it's Portal 2. Second place would be...er...nothing. I have not played many games this year and even if I did they came out in different years. At least I played the best games of all time. :cool:

Worst "Big" title: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

Zelda Skyward Sword.

I can't look at other games the same. Got spoiled by the games motion controls. Every other game feels more...robotic now. It odd not having control of my own attacks. Make me wish Twilight Princess had the same control setup everytime I go back and play it. It was so satisfying have such freedom in the control of the swings of Link's blade. I pray Zelda WiiU will follow in Skyward Sword's footsteps.

I also loved the art style. I love how it felt like a painting. It such a unique style...a prefect blind of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. A fitting choicce from the limited power the Wii had to offer. I've not had so much fun with a Zelda game since Majora's Mask. It ranks along side the Nintendo 64 games. My personal game of the year, along with the game of this gen.

Super Mario 3D Land would be game of the year for handhelds.

As for handheld game of the gen. that would go to Dragon Quest V. It a shame it took the game so long to finally make it to the US. It hands down one of the best in the series. I loved how it focuses on the heroes life though a child/young adult/parent. It kept true to the roots of Dragon Quest, offering a fresh new feel at the same time.

Batman, Dark Souls and Skyrim in that order. Once I play Skyward Sword and Uncharted I can have a little more choice.

Gamespot rarely goes with my GOTY choice, but I'd be happy if it's either Batman: AC, Skyward Sword, and **** it, I'll say it, Sonic Generations.

Witcher 2 or Skyrim

Dark Souls will win here, Skyward Sword will win at IGN.
