Wait, best physics technology or best use of physics? If its tech then Crysis followed by Red Faction Guerilla. If its use then I could name all day lol.

From playing GTA IV I found it used Endorphin to realistically simulate ragdolls and falling down. There are very few games, other than some sports ones that do this. The way the cars reacted to damage was also fantastic. Even the slightest hits caused paint scratching and denting. The driving physics also felt very good. Each car was unique in the way the drove and stopped. Some had ABS, they lll had automatic clutches, differentials, deflatable tires and of course different drive train setups. One that impressed my the most was that they had rudimentary water physics. If you drove you car off a bridge and landed in the water, it would cause actual waves to disperse from your location. Not just a splash texture.

I also spend a lot of time with the SDK of both Half Life 2 and Crysis so I know how far their physics go. I have to give it GTA on this one.

No red faction guerrila?

I would say crysis at very high physics settings.

I am always amazed by crysis physics, there was a mod that used physics engine to do puzles. Awesome!

Might be Red Faction, but haven't played that, so for me it's between Crysis and GTA4. I would propably give it to GTA4, Crysis might be technically more impressive with the explosions and ability to break down huts and throw the pieces at enemies, but GTA4's physics felt more natural and realistic like the objects actually had proper weight ..most of the time.

Lol? Name one example of good physics in KZ 2. (PLEASE don't say the character animations considering the fact that that has nothing to do with the physics engine).

Crysis had great physics in game, but there are to many odditys imo. Like one person said the trees can be really odd. I prefer the source engine in terms of physics, you want a good demonstration go play garys mod, best physics out there. Red faction had great physics in terms of destruction, but the item count was a little low, you would destory a building, but the left overs on the ground would look like you just broke up a side walk by throwing a bunch of pipes at it, the end result was dissapointing. Little big planet has excellent physics. Each material acts like its real work counter part in terms of sound, object reactions, and visually.

WHOA!!! YOU WIN!

Seriously though....KZ 2 doesn't have a great physics engine, that doesn't take away from the greatness of the game, but still you can't deny the facts.....

Killzone 2 has incredible physics. In the warehouse in the first level for example, if you shoot the bottom of the explosive cylinder it'll fly around the room realistically and explode. In Radec Academy, when you shoot the columns they break apart and reveal wires and such underneath.

Not to mention the ragdoll physics.

Seriously, go play the game.

As for OP:

1.)Crysis

2.)Red Faction Guerilla

3.)Killzone 2

the oddities come from it being such a large open world. its much less work to calculate the physics inside a building with a controled environment than outdoors with an expasive enviornment same thing applies to AI

You do know the video you posted showcased basic ragdoll physics and pre rendered animations right?

Did you just type "Killzone 2 Physics" into Youtube? Try harder next time.

I'm far from a fanboy, I'd probably be interested in a 360 if I couldn't play all of it's "exclusives" on my PC. I'd say that video is really impressive physics wise. I wish I had a camera ready, because I've seen way more great examples of physics when I played through the game. When bodies are halfway off an edge, they'll slow slip off the edge and onto the ground...grenades take off tiles and product rubble when near walls...shell casings realistically bounce off the floor and go with the wind. When you shoot the water with the AA gun the mist from the impact blows with the wind...there's just too many examples that I can't find a video of.

All of the examples you just listed are the status quo when it comes to big budget games' physics engines.....Far from great and ever further from innovative.

Crysis has the most advanced physics but i would say the BEST USE of physics would easily be HL2/Portal.

i voted crysis though.

you should have put red faction guerilla on that list.

[QUOTE="urdead18"] I'm far from a fanboy, I'd probably be interested in a 360 if I couldn't play all of it's "exclusives" on my PC. When you shoot the water with the AA gun the mist from the impact blows with the wind...there's just too many examples that I can't find a video of.urdead18

All of the examples you just listed are the status quo when it comes to big budget games' physics engines.....Far from great and ever further from innovative.

K...what games besides Crysis/Red Faction do you think have good physics?

Half Life 2, Portal hell even GTA 4 has better physics then KZ 2.

I don't get why people think that Killzone 2 has good physics. It's all scripted and pre-rendered, nothing new.
