The PS3 gets blown away by high-end PCs (Especially those with Core 2 Duo processors and DX10 capable GPUs).

My opinion as a pc gamer is that the PS3 is about on par with a mid end pc.  Regardless, The PS3 should pack enough punch to reproduce most of today's pc hits with 720p resolution and 30fps.  This is of course pretty low for pc standards nowaday, but it's doable nontheless.

A single 8800gtx paired with a dual core processor and at least 1 gig ram would destroy the PS3 in a multiplatform game, especially if optimized.  I imagine by the end of this year the PS3 will only be able to keep up with a mid range pc, which will cost roughly the same amount as a PS3 after tax and warranty.  So it's take your pick.

In my case, I keep up-to-date with my hardware in my pc (i have a good job) so if I decide to purchase a PS3 (which I'm not) it would ONLY be because of exclusive games that I can't play.  Ya see the thing is....is that I was kinda hoping the PS3 would have some knockout musthave games by now but it really doesn't.  The longer it takes PS3 to get the ball rolling, the further my interest wanders away from it.  By the time games like Crysis and Hellgate come out I'm sure I'll be a very happy (and busy) camper with not much time outside of work, gaming, and social life.  It's too bad really.

hell yeah :D....i dont like console gaming that much.....the only reason SOME console gamers dont like the pc is because they dont have the money WE do to buy 2,000$ + pc gaming machines....its mostly older people who own gaming computers from like 24 years old and up...maybe even lower, but the rate wont be so high.....no parent is gonna buy a kid a 2,000$ console lol...if it wasnt for the high prices on gaming pc's, pc gaming would be #1 in the charts...but to me its always #1 :D :D :D :D

A PC can push resolutions as high as QSXGA.  I don't know the PS3's limit, but, I think it's only 1080P.  Not that that's the only way of judging it, but PC hardware is always updating, the PS3 is what it is and always will be.

I'll continue the echo, a high end PC.

The PS3 is a console, albeit a strong one, but as such is constrained by the limitations of consoles (ie, static hardware, lower RAM, HDD etc)

not the real point, overall his is more powerfull then ps3, i mean hes got 8X more memory and a processor that is (out of oder, which will kill ps3's in order) a processor dedicated to sound(sound card)

The tower of a pc will look down at the ps3 and say where's the dx10 capabilities  then the ps3 will say well i have a cell which um ah um actaully i have piece of c**p just ignore i was here

As PC's can be upgraded of course they can and do have more powerful hardware, I mean a top end grpahics card alone will cost as much as a PS3. This isn't a negative to the PS3 or any console, its just how it is! What a silly post.

A PC can be more powerful than any system can ever be for the simple fact that you can just upgrade,upgrade, and upgrade some more then when you think that it is maxed out , then you upgrade again because new graphic and sound cards are out none of that top of the line stuff is cheap either for all the stuff you need for a high-end PC you can probably get 2 PS3's

Pc buy depending on how much your willing to pay. one thing that dose rattle me is that there will be games that the ps3 will run in the future that will require a far faster pc, for example, altho the xbox1 port of halflife2 was.... not brilliant but you still need a far faster pc to run the game even at minium detail.     (1.3P4  256mb etc) consoles do get a helping hand by better optimised games.
