Well, MGS4 is on blu-ray, which has slightly better graphics than the 360. If Mass Effect were on PS3, it could possibly have better graphics than MGS4.

In all honesty, I really love the character models in Mass Effect. they look stunning, and the lighting and shadows on their faces work so well together. Their faces almost look real O_o.

I find it difficult to compare the two, since ME deals with so many alien faces. When I compare human faces, especially in the pictures TC provided, I thought MGS4 looked notably better. However, I thought both looked great, and since some of the best work in ME seems to be the aliens, removing them from comparison is kind of unfair.
MGS4s look better... and the game doesnt play at horrible framerates like MasseffectNokia_N95This.
MGS4 has amazing detail to character models. ME looks great as well, but for now MGS4 is the undisputed king when it comes to character models at least.

amen.. but ME is a closed second.
good job for picking nice shots for both.
it's rare to find someone posting fair shots when comparing two games. (especially if he/she is a ps3 fan).
btw, r u a ps3 or an x360 fan?
Body Modeling: Tie
Animations: MGS4
Textures: Tie
Facial Modeling: Quality in both are amazingly close. Mass Effect is more realistic though thanks to face scanning. Mass Effect.
Mass Effect. Then again, playing at 1920x1200 at max settings is so unfair compared to MGS4. Oh well. 8)Stevo_the_gamer
Pretty sure we're discussing the 360 ver here. It's pointless to include the PC ver.

Even if the PC version was in the discussion, there are aspects where MGS4 looks better.Wow, I didn't realize that . Anyways, Uncharted 2 will crush both ME and MGS4 in animations, lip syncing, and textures.who revive a dead thread? is this even allow?

Mass Effects have more detail to them whereas MGS4's are more smooth. I give the light edge to ME because of the style used and higher polygon count.lhugheyNo one should be judging MGS4 by these pics. They are from a year before the game release. It looks much better.
both look great, but I prefer mgs4, mass effect's character looks very shiny like their covered with baby oil under the sunlight, like most graphics nowadays, mgs4 has unique graphicsjohnlennon28I lol'd Those MGS screens are god damn super shiny
Do you have any idea what you're talking about?Well, MGS4 is on blu-ray, which has slightly better graphics than the 360. If Mass Effect were on PS3, it could possibly have better graphics than MGS4.

I totally agree with the above... both games have amazing character model..
I also like Heavenly Sword's character models, they're great and heavily underrated imo... (and the voice acting oohhhh simply amazing) :)

Oh yeah! HS was ahead of it's time with character models and lip-syncing. Still one of the best today.you have no idea what you are talking about. Having the game on blu-ray does not increase its graphic quality. Having it on bluray allows for it have uncompressed audio and more large cutscenes.Well, MGS4 is on blu-ray, which has slightly better graphics than the 360. i think mgs4 has a smoother, cleaner look to the characters, whereas mass effect has more detail and better design.
mass effect has alot of random pop ins with face details, which is a negative (i've not played the pc version).
i think both have merits but i'll go with mass effect on this occasion. really close though.

I tested Mass effect on my computer long time after it was released, and I seriously can not see why that game is hyped for it's graphics, specially the characters.
i like how the mgs4 screens are cg movies, and the me screens are game.

You wouldn't have said that, if you actually played MGS4.
