What do you mean, "maybe"?? If I have friends over and we want an easy free experience, its mario Kart. If I want to play a racing game with a lot more realism and to be sucked in, its GT.

Mario Kart is the best arcade racer of its kind.

Gran Turismo isn't the best sim racer of its kind.

So therefore Mario Kart wins.

Both flop, Wipeout owns both. You get everything under one roof. Great graphics, good sound track, high speed, deep control, fun, and power ups.

Gran Turismo for me. Sure I like Mario Kart, but only if I have people to play with. It is boring playing solo. GT on the other hand is fun both as single and multiplayer. Plus I just like realistic more than fantasy when it comes to racing games (and pretty much any other genre for that matter).

I prefer Mario Kart by a fair margin, but it has been on a consistent downhill slide since the N64, whereas GT has remained good up until 3. For 4, well, who knows... Not like there is more than a demo out for it. It is no longer king of the racers any more, but that by no-means makes it a bad game.

Mario Kart, I don't understand the draw of realistic racers. Until someone makes one that comes with a full car setup (brake, accelerator, clutch, gear stick, and wheel with flappy paddle gearbox-for 3 ways to do gears, normally with that or automatic) and realistic driving controls on top of that then I won't care about it. If I want to feel like I'm driving a real car around I'll go and drive my car around. The only reason a game with that setup in would be cool is because I can't drive my real car at 100mph around a race track.

I got bored of Gran Turismo 4 in no time. With Mario Kart on the other hand, I have never gotten bored, be it with friends or when playing by myself. What I did get, however, was a load of fun.

Neither. Mario Kart is too kiddy, GT is too serious.

My favorite racer is PGR. Well, I started with it when it was MSR on Dreamcast.

I HATE racing games in general but I HATE sim racing games even more so I guess Mario Cart is best. The only game with cars I would ever buy is Burnout.

I don't know what point you're trying to make with your little Street Fighter comparison, because saying that SF isn't the king of fighting games any more is *completely* true... And this coming from a fan of the series who has been playing since the early 90's, and who is actually playing SFIV online between posts here.

Love SF to death and it is my fav fighting series if you include the VS games... but it isn't the King of fighting games.

Neither. Only Super Mario Kart was worthy of playing. While GT has it's flaws and advantages every time. Therefore, Midnight Club wins.

that is entirely subjective - it depends on which each person enjoys the most.

As far as a series go I could not choose one over the other, both have individual great games.

Super Mario Kart and Gran Turismo 3 are both among my faves.
